Don't use the jatco tranny!

Here is an article for you.

Cummins Diesel Engine Swap - Cummins 4BT - Diesel Power Magazine

Transmission Options
You'll be a step ahead if you figure out what transmission you'll be using. Dodge overdrive transmissions such as the 47RH, 47RE, and 48RE are a good choice, but they're heavy. If you're building a smaller vehicle, adapters are available for TH400s, 727 Torqueflites, and Powerglides, as well as manual transmissions. These transmissions are physically smaller, lighter, and have been proven to withstand up to 800 horsepower if built correctly. Keep in mind that your engine will only spin up to 3,000-4,000 rpm, so if you decide do go with a non-overdrive transmission, you may be gearing-limited. Do some research and find out which transmission makes the most sense for you.

Find an old bread truck and pull one out. It would be so much work though might be better off just settling with an older 03-07 5.9l and do exhaust and intake and get 20 mpg out of a full size 4 door without doing big tires of course.

Pretty sure Allison makes a tranny for Cummins. That would be my first choice. Make sure you keep us posted on your conversion, I would love to see how it goes!

Re: 4bt cummins for my titan

Think you guys misunderstood I'm keeping my drive train looking for a tranny adapter ,the 4bt will be pushing only 250 up but about 450 lbs torque so the stock stuff will hold ,I already have a 2004 dodge with built cummins so I'm not looking to make this one a hot rod just tired of spending a c- note everyday to fill my t up ,oh the engine was about 2k

Re: 4bt cummins for my titan

Has this gone anywhere? I'm working on putting an OM617 into a TJ Wrangler, and when that's done I will probably be pretty tired of waiting on a factory light duty diesel. A 4bt seems like it would be perfect for the Titan.

"The satisfactions of manifesting oneself concretely in the world through manual competence have been known to make a man quiet and easy. They seem to relieve him of the felt need to offer chattering interpretations of himself to vindicate his worth. He can simply point: the building stands, the car runs, the lights are on. His well-founded pride is far from the gratuitous "self-esteem" that educators would impart to students, as though by magic."

The bigger 5.9 had the AT545 behind it. The AT545 is a 4 speed transmission, with a deep first gear, 1:1 4th gear and converter lockup in every gear from 2-4. The AT545 is a rugged transmission that is hydraulically controlled and used in school buses. 5.9 and 3.9 4bt use the same transmissions and adapters. The 4BT and AT545 would be practically indestructable.
