I was wondering if anyone has had any bad things happen due to using a BD or other tuner on a Titan.
I want to get intake, exhaust, and maybe a couple of other things, but from reading on TT, it seems a bully dog is a relatively inexpensive way to add some quick power, and if I upgrade parts later, I can always sell it. I am just unsure of using this, due to a friends bad experience.
He had a 6.0 Pwerstroke and a Bully Dog screwed his engine. $2500 later, it was fixed. I know the diesel and gas engine are two different animals, but this has me hesitant to add a tuner.
One out of thousands is a good ratio. Seems most titan users see good performance results. The few times issues pop up generally relate to updating the bdgt itself, or problems getting the tune to upload to the truck which is usually fixed with a call into tech support.
Just go for it, getting rid of the throttle restriction alone is worth it.
When it comes Uprev time sell it and you cover more than half the cost.

They discontinued the power pup so might stop support for it who knows. If you've got the extra $$$ go for the bdgt. Ajusa ships new for $330, pick a used one up for average of $300, maybe cheaper now since the new ones are cheaper than they used to be.

I love my bdgt. I wouldn't pick any other tuner other than uprev. I agree with Donson about going for the gt over the pup. Even if you don't install the monitor it can be very helpful to check things from time to time like your afr. I would install it though for monitoring trans temp and afr.

Thanks for sharing your stories.
I would not compare the two. Bullydog does make a "inferior" tuner when it comes to diesels. Yes, I have heard horror stories. In regards to the gassers, I never heard anything negative. There is alot more to screw up with diesels (boost, timing, fuel, line pressure etc.) than our gassers. Don't hesitate in purchasing the BD for the T.....wake the beast up!

I have read that there is little risk as well, except the dealer warranty being honored, but mine is out of warranty. I just figured I should ask on here so I know before hand of any problems that a tuner may cause.

Buddy told me he blew his head off his 6.0 with some other mods and he even had head studs. He put alot of money in that motor only to end up scrapping it, it is a pos motor. He switched to a cummins and put close to 20k in that drive train. 6 speed manual 750hp on the dyno, dont remeber the tq but it was north of 1200lbs. You cant compare a turbo vehicle tune to a n/a canned tune.

Wasn't done right then, I know 6.0s with more power than your neighborhood. If a head job is done right it can handle a **** load of power. I know people with injectors, turbos, and custom tunes holding up just fine
Hey guys I need some help please...I just bought a BDGT, pretty straight forward install BUT I got no instructions. I did the update to the GT, installed OBD and mounted it. The 12v power plug (going into OBD) says to wire into fuse box to a key on/off powered fuse, ok I got on but the cord has a red and black wire in cover. I tried BD Tech and they haven't called me Yet, I hooked up the red wire and unit works and download to ECM fine. I have tried different setting combos and I can't feel/see any difference. I need to know does the black wire get power also or ground, and please tell me best combo to run. I only have added a nismo intake. I have it now +2 timing/ air fuel on sensor A/ throttle @ stock hp (restriction on or off no change)/ rev limit off/ raised MPH/ please advise...I feel like I have pissed away 340 bucks. Thanks....(is tranny adjustable? And where is setting)
