I followed the lead from pciley's post earlier about replacing the resonators with straight pipes. This is a MUST do if you really want to unclog the engine. I went with 2.5", flared piping with non-welded flanges. The guy I deal with at the muffler shop recommended using the non-welded flanges for the sake of alignment and fit. He said after I installed them he could easily weld them while they are on the truck, so no issues there. It only costs $85 to make these pipes up and I installed them in a matter of minutes. Everything is easily reached and the nuts came right off the cat flanges with no problems.
It adds a very definite crispness to the sound of the exhaust. It's probably borderline legal as far as sound goes only if your foot is flat to the floor. At other throttle settings it's business as usual with no extra sound than I had before.....BUT GET ON IT and let the music start playing....wooohoooo
Oh yeah, and no loss of power comes with this mod, bottom, mid-range, or top end. And the butt dyno is certainly feeling a boost, no questions there.
not that I've noticed. I'll be doing some highway driving later on tonight so I'll report back. The rip run I made earlier didn't really sound any different until you stomp on it, then it's like....holy cow, I hope there wasn't a cop around......

Oh Crud,
Now I have to set the example, that would leave me out of this mod.

Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Are those things cats or resonators? I didn't take the time to look in the pipe when putting the Banks on.
There's actually been a lot of discussion about this lately on another thread because it appears some of the trucks have what mine does (resonators), and some have cats. We never did figure out why. Those are resonators that your looking at though on my truck.
I'm probably going to hit the dyno tomorrow. I'm done with exhaust mods and am really modded out until the headers come down in price. Other than that I'm quickly running out of ideas and options.
