Anybody have a true dual 5x11 magnaflow setup? If not, is there enough room underneath for two of em?
What kind of advantages/disadvantages would this have compared to a single 5x11 magnaflow, x pipe, and dual exhaust? I'm curious as to whether this would be a quieter system as well.

There's room, usually they're installed side by side, rotated on the fore-aft axis 90deg from normal. Search for photos on this forum by username "Keven" to see this type of installation.. Her hubby had dual Vortechs about same size installed, and from what the muffler shop that did her install described, it's also a pretty quiet, just very mellow.
Let us know if you do something like that. I'm interested in quieting my single dual-in/dual-out down a bit more.

I checked out the thread, really interesting pics. I couldn't find much info about the Vortec's on the web though.
When I get my truck, I think I will go this route with an X-pipe as long as the 5x11's will fit and a shop is willing to do it at a reasonable price.
where these guys used dual magnaflows and xpipe on a mustang and got power/torque similar to running open headers, but without all the noise. I'm not sure if the x-pipe is really THAT much of an improvement over the H-pipe, as they didn't compare the performance with the same mufflers, but with some 'used unknown brand race-type'. However, the logic does make sense and I will definitely go with the X pipe.

x-pipe will make it a little quieter too since that's where you were wanting to go. find that clip of sandbag's exhaust. it is a real good example of how the x takes the raspy noise out a v-8 exhaust. juma
The raspiness normally comes from a true dual system, not from a dual in system like Sammy has. Although the x pipe WILL help smooth out the overall tone, when you run a di/do chambered muffler like Flowmaster or Spin Tech, the exhaust gasses and pulses automatically. W/ a true dual system however, the x pipe will make a VERY noticeable difference in terms of sound and somehwat in terms of power. The difference an x pipe vs. an h pipe in overall terms of performance really isn't going to be very different when it comes to a stock small block, or perhaps any engine that produces 305 hp. Sound wise, the x pipe will be a bit smoother and quieter inside
