Intake Manifold Design

I am working on a dual intake manifold design because I had an extra throttle body assembly sitting around. I already wired it up to make sure both work together, but I am working on this design. It has equal length runners. The sides are set up by odd and even sides with a center intake for more equal flow. I also designed it to be sort enough to not hit the oil filler neck. The base would be wider for fuel injectors, but this is what I've got so far. Let me know if anyone has ideas.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

i can see the potential in it, as my previous 370z had dual intakes...

the only thing i could see that's not really an issue but more of an engineering challenge is the positioning of the intakes in proportion to the engine bay. i.e. the battery would have to be relocated in order to have a mirrored passenger side intake. Or an alternate designed dual intake format would have to be conceived.

would be an awesome creation to test though.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

Thanks for the quick reply. I am actually putting this in my 07 frontier that I put the vk in so I forgot about your battery placement. Would it be able to run mirrored intakes if the neck was shortened?

Re: Intake Manifold Design

not really. take a look, the battery would need to be moved.

i would almost say to relocate the battery to the utility storage on the bed itself

Re: Intake Manifold Design

What about relocating the power steering reservoir? It seems like that may be easier.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

i believe it has metal in/out lines...

imo battery relocation is easier. there are kits for it all over the internet for automobiles in general.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

If it does not hit the oil filler neck it will not even come close to the battery.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

Titan ss thank you for your input on the clearance. I was thinking the same thing, but as I said I'm not looking at a Titan engine compartment so I couldn't be sure.

Vinyl I thought of that too, but a main purpose of me doing this project is to get more equal airflow as opposed to stock and front mounted tb's would be no different. Thank you for bringing up the MAF because I forgot to mention this. I am running uprev so I will most likely just reprogram the ECM to read the sensor input doubled from stock and still only have to run 1 MAF. About the tb's ya they run in sync. It was actually way easier to get that workin than I thought it would be.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

are you running a Titan ECU or is it a stand alone?

To get equal airflow on front mounted TB's you would have to taper the plenums to the back cylinders on each bank.

Re: Intake Manifold Design

Titan ECM. I did consider the tapering, but in all honesty it is just one more piece of engineering that I don't want to deal with. Also I do plan to put on dual turbos eventually and the side location makes it more accessible for that routing since I am going to put the inter cooler for each on the outside just above the wheel wells since I am fiberglassing a hood with vents for it. Long project, but the manifold is the first step.
