Let me know if you decide to go that way. I'd love to see what kind of power it adds.

You won't add power by taking off the K&N CAI and putting your stock box back in with a drop-in filter. You will be losing power.
You will be losing noise, however, if that is what you are trying to do. You will also loose the risk of the oil from the K&N Conical filter causing your MAFS to fail. I don't think the drop-in has enough oil on it to cause any problems.

oil messing up the airflow meter

I had a drop in in my Tacoma and the oil contaminated my airflow meter causing a $500.00 replacement. The problem did occur after I had cleaned and reoiled the thing though so could have been operator error.

I am putting a drop-in into my truck this time around and will be extra careful when i clean and reoil it.

Love my titan...sometimes titantalk gets me a little obsessive compulsive with the quirks of the thing...but I love standing on the gas and feeling the powaaa!!!

Peace out.

The K&N flat panel drop in have been known not to make any noticeable differences in performance. Just on carb engines. The only real gain you will see is MPG. If you want performance than you have to go with the CAI, but you risk damaging your MAF sensor.

That is resonation. Things are moving around too much on the K&N intake and hard materials are contacting eachother without any dampening material between them.

Try the new version of the Volant CAI. They have created a neoprene seat that the box rests on top of the fender with and the resonation is gone. They also have a gasket of the same material for the air box lid. The material that mates the box to the fender is a soft rubber trim spongue. The plastic tube doesn't contact the air box at all, as the filter's neck sticks out of the box insulating that too...

All in all, the ONLY noise it makes is the mean growl of air moving through it. NO vibrations or resonation on the latest box.

I get that vibration and my truck is bone stock. I can stop it if I hold down the plastic defroster panel under the windshield. It bugs. I think it's a Nissan thing. Second Nissan with resonance.

The Drop in made a noticeable power difference in my Titan. It's worth the $50 for a lifetime filter, and you will notice a difference.

Is cleaning the filter a big deal or easy? How often does it have to be cleaned(and with what?)?
Thanks

Haven't had to clean mine yet. K&N recomends changing it every 50-100 thousand miles. I have heard you need to be carefull not to over oil when cleaning the filter.
