Anyone done a "kill switch"

On occasion I have to leave my truck parked overnight in sorta a sketchy part of town and I have a "club" steering wheel lock but I would also like a hidden kill switch too. Hopefully one under the dash.

Anyone done this to their truck?

Look up the burnout mod. With the switch on, it won't allow you to shift out of park. Just hide the switch.

That's what I do anyways.

If he doesn't, I guess it would be a pretty expensive kill switch. Lol!

Use a relay to cut your main ign wire. Hidden switch to throw the relay.

Re: Anyone done a "kill switch"

Depends on where you did your burnout mod at.

If done at the pedal, thatll disable from shifting out of park. If done at the ECU the truck will act normal

Re: Anyone done a "kill switch"

Ahhh, that would explain it. Mine was done at the ECU.

Re: Anyone done a "kill switch"

here is an easy way to do it with no switches
all you need is a relay and a volt meter.
cut the starter wire in half. connect the starter side to 87 and the ignition switch side to 30.
ground #85
#86 goes to a positive switch like the parking lights, brake lights ect..

you can also switch it around for a ground switch instead of positive by
86 to ignition wire
85 to a ground activated switch
30 to starter side of starter wire
87 to ignition side of the starter wire

Re: Anyone done a "kill switch"

An even easier way with no switches or relays or voltmeters is to remove the ECM and/or IGN fuses and substitute them with ones that are burned out.

It's easy to pop a new fuse. Get two insulated leads and attach them quickly to a 12 volt battery and they'll pop. A potential thief would have to actually diagnose why it's not starting and check the fuses at the fuse box on the passenger side. Something they probably wouldn't want to do due to the time contraints they have if you know what I mean.

Of course, this is just a quickie method to get you by until you're able to put a well-hidden kill switch in it.
