Advice on first mod

I've been lurking since before I got my titan a couple of weeks ago, now posting to get some advice. I have a 2010 LE, and want to do a small mod soon. I'm looking to get a power/mpg boost and looking at CAI/exhaust. I was sold on the Banks Monster catback, but looks like it's not recommended or really needed on the 2010 model. I'm going to have a budget around five to six hundred, looking for recommendations. I want to get a rumble and growl when on the gas, but not looking to be loud as hell. Any boost in mpg and power is an added bonus. Please help a newbie out.

Advice on first mod

Do a muffler swap leaving the rest of the oem exhaust and get the air raid mxp cai. You should be rite on target with your budget and you will def get max bang for your buck. Magnaflow has some really nice mufflers that aren't terribly loud but flow much better than oem.

Re: Advice on first mod

Forget about any MPG improvement.

A CAI and exhaust will give you a little performance boost, but it'll move around your HP/TQ curve by pushing it up in the RPM range a little more.

A handheld tuner is money well spent with or without the CAI and exhaust.

Exactly, The bdgt will get rid of the wot restriction and that alone will make the truck feel so much better. I picked up 26hp and 33 lb/ft with the bdgt compared to the stock tune. You can also pick one of these up on the site classifieds for $200 at times. Then a cai will help the truck also along with bpipes and a muffler swap you will be close to 300 rwhp. Visit my home page for my dyno video pre and post bdgt, just click on "nightowl" or copy and paste the link in my signature.

Re: Advice on first mod

Get the Bully GT first. You will thank me later. And you should have enough left for an Airaid MXP Cai. Get the Synthmax. It is oil free and can be cleaned with Formula 409. You will get increased gains, HP and Torque. Then get the exhaust. Gibson make some great exhausts that work great with the T and are affordable. If you want a big growl their Metal Mulisha can give you that. There are threads on here where members have videos so you can hear how loud it is.

Re: Advice on first mod

I have the Gibson dual extreme and it sounds great and looks good too and is not annoying loud, u start with one u are doomed like the rest of us, plenty more will come, my advice is cai and exhaust, then once ur done with that u will want headers, tuner, cams and the list goes on....

Re: Advice on first mod

Thanks everyone, looks like it will be the bully dog and airaid to start. How much sound difference will the airaid cause with factory exhaust? I was leaning towards exhaust and cai for the sound, but seems like the tuner seems to get the majority.

The airaid will give you a little roar when the throttle is mashed but the truck will breath better. Once you get those two you need to look at bpipes to finish the gains. Catless bpipes will make a stock exhaust system sound like a mild catback. The stock bpipes are very restrictive and pipe size in only 2". Step up to 2.25" bpipes and a muffler swap and you will be happy. Read the "proven exhaust thread" for opinions on these type setups. You will love a bdgt with all its options and monitoring features.

Re: Advice on first mod

That is a great price if it comes with the mount. I orefer the Blendmount over the Ram Mount though. Personal Preference I guess. Blendmount sits over the rearview mirror. Better for viewing and is out of the way for prying eyes. Last place they would look. And the glass of the windshield is tinted there for added security.

I do agree with you there. I love my blend mount and its well worth the money. But really anything is better than the one that comes with it. Can I say shakey-shakey.
