Volant ver 2 Install ???

Guys installed volant 2 on my SE. I DID NOT plug the hyperflow port. I know this is important from reading due to hot air, etc. My question is....there is a ALOT of DRONE at low end to the point the dash rattles. It was cool at first but now is annoying. By pluging the Hyperflow port will this correct the loud drone?? Also, any suggestions on a PVC part or something to plug with??

plugging will change the tone but it probably won't get rid of it all. there is usually a good selection of plastic caps and pieces for plumbing and drain systems at Home Depot or Lowes. juma

You may want to put a couple more screws in the top as well. You will get a lot of noise from air getting in the top when you stomp on it. The 4 screws (1 in each corner) is not sufficient to keep the top sealed to the air box. You will notice a very loud roar when the air passes through the gaps.

Important:
Did you get BOTH bolts through the bottom of the Volant air box? if just one, than that is causing you some vibration.

Did you put the neoprene rubber seat on top of the fender before you put the Volant box down? If the plastic box is sitting directly on the fender-well then you are getting some vibration there as well. Make sure everything is tight and secure.

With the neoprene seal under the lid as well, no more than 4 screws will be needed. As air is being sucked from the box, you can see the lid come down to seal. Stand in front of the truck looking at the box and have someone else rev the engine for you. You will able to see what is moving and witness the box's lid sucking shut on its own (if you have the rubber gasket under the lid).

I only got one bolt in. Are you saying to install the other bolt with the large grommet from the factory box?? When you say neoprene rubber are you talking about the 8.5 x 11 sheet of black vinyl/rubber? Thanks in advance pciley

Yeah, Volant says its Neoprene so that's what I called it. Not a materials expert though it doesn't look like vinyl to me at all.
YEAH that big sheet gets slapped on the fender under the air box. You will obviously cut a small hole for the bolt to go through.
I only got ONE bolt as well, but it fits alot more snug with the new washers that Joe put on there up at Volant's office.

The box has a second hole so if someone can work a miracle and get another bolt to snake through that hole AND mount straight to be able to thread into the other hole in the fender, I'm sure you will have a rock solid box that sholdn't move anywhere. The other hole in the box doesn't seem to be in the right spot and you will notice that at the odd angle the bolt won't thread properly, not even with some strong-arm manipulation of the box/bolt. You might have to drill a small hole a bit lower to line up better.

I was wondering if I slapped on some extra liquid deadener/or dynamat type material inside the box if that would muffel the drone more??

what do you think

I used one of the end caps put on the pipes of my banks exhaust for shipping. Fit like a glove. If I still have some I'll let you know, if you want I'll ship you one.

I wouldn't put Dynamat INSIDE your air box. You don't want to interrupt the smooth flow of air. That's why the inside is smooth to begin with. Also, adding that material to the box might affect the plastic's cooling ability or resistance to heat. I would just stick it to the fender as Volant recommends.

90% of that noise was eliminated when I installed Banks Monster. Don't plug the hole use it! Go to Home Depot get some hose 2.5 diameter x 18" mount the box push hose thru from the top and route it to the outside via fender well. I cut mine at about a 60 degree angle. Cost 4 or 5 bucks
