The stock resonators on my 04 CC LE 4X4 Big Tow

My truck was born 8-04 and has these resonators which I changed. Thought I would post a picture of the inside of them.http://www.titantalk.com/forums/atta...tid=5380&stc=1 A friend came by with his Titan born 1-04 CC 2WD Big Tow Off Road and his look like little mufflers. I did not take his exhaust appart to look inside, but mine look like round bullets with some crazy screen in them to reduce flow.

The reason the resonator looks like that, is because it is a Cat. converter, not a resonator!!!!!! I COULD be WRONG, but it sure looks that way to ME!!!! I suppose it COULD be a flame arrester???????

Not unless his cats were inline behind his O2 sensors...

I have attached a pic of the outside of my resonator, O2 sensor and Cat. The part he is talking about is the segment a couple feet long from the flange just behind my res to the flange just behind my cat. Sorry I don't have a single pic of the whole thing of mine or his, but my wife left the digital camera at work. Anyway, the cat is between the manifold and the O2 sensor, then the resonator comes before the Y. Mine looks like a small muffler like you see and his is more of a "<>" shape with that honeycomb thing in the middle.

What does everyone else have?

The 4x4's have the 2nd O2's instead of the resonators.

I searched and found this: What happened to the resonators?

Interesting reading, but still not helping me to fully understand why 2 virtually identical trucks would be built so differently that one would have 1 cat/1 resonator and the other would have 2 cats/no resonator. My truck looks like Potroast's truck and Scarab's is like SoCalBluetooth's truck.

Oh yeah, so does this mean that when you order a "Cat-back" exhaust system, you have to tell them if you have a 4x2 or 4x4 to make sure you get the correct system?
