Dealership "can't/won't" align 325's

so I had an appointment this a.m. at a local Nissan dealership to get an alignment after putting on my 325's. No sooner do I step up to the service counter when the service manager taps me on the shoulder and asks, "Are those tires factory?". It hurt not to come back w/a sarcastic answer (I think this shows growth on my part ;-) but I held my composure and simply stated the obvious. He replied "...there is no way we can align these tires as they are not factory and to set them to factory spec based on the 265/70's would be unsafe and ineffective...and oh yea, have a nice day". So without skipping a beat I drove 2 towns over and went to a second dealership and relayed my tale. After the laughter in the service lobby subsided, I was told that I would be outta here in an hour - tires aligned. And, an hour later I was outta there...tires aligned. As an incentive to come back to them, they took $10.00 off my tab and then thanked me for the laugh.

All Dealerships are not created equal.
And yes your handeling of the situation shows a large degree of wisdom.

yeah, you reacted great...but what I would do know is copy this thread and take it along with a receipt from the other dealer to the dealer that turned you away, and stick them up his a$$....If anything it will at least make him feel like a dumb a$$....Why does it seem that the Service manager's are the dumbest one's?

because they usually have very little shop experience as far as I have seen. Most of the SMs I work with were promoted from with-in, working behind a desk the whole time.

I share the opinion, take another trip back to the first dealer and tell him what a dumba$$ he is.
