Goodyear Wrangler SR-A to BF Goodrich All Terrain?

Not sure if this question has been posted:

I have a 2004 Crew Cab SE with Big Tow Package. Wheels are 18" and I don't want to replace them.

Can I replace the stock Goodyear Wrangler SR-A (265/70R/18) with BF Goodrich All Terrain (285/65R/18) ......... without having to lift the truck?

If not, what would be the minimum I would have to lift it?

Thanks for the info.

Go ahead, since they are the same height. Both are 32.6" tires. They should fit exactly the same as the stockers.

"should fit" ?

What about the width?

I spoke with a local tire dealer and he said it may or may not work. He said he wouldn't know for sure until the BFG's were put on. Seems to me a tire dealer should be able to tell me for sure. I'd rather have a 100% confrimation before I order the BFG's.

Has anyone done this?

11.22 vs 10.43 section width difference, both are 32.6 inches tall. With 3/4 of an inch difference in width there would not be a problem. I will be installing the same tires when mine wear out. I want the higher load range and thicker side walls.

guys i put 35" by 12.50 wide tires on my titan with only a 2" lift. they rub just a smidge in a full turn so i would say the 11.22 inch tires would work

How are these tires the same height? Does the 70R and the 65R indicate/measure the tire profile? A 70 would have a larger profile than a 65 thus increasing the overall height of the tire...correct? I'm not a tire expert, but I thought the first number indicates the tire width, the second number the tire profile, and the third number the size rim. I do agree to get an expert opinion before dropping $$ on a new set. Another thing I just thought of...Won't changing the profile of a tire effect the speedo accuracy? These are all questions I would ask a tire expert. Please reply back to this thread as I think this would be a cool tire to switch to when the time comes to replace. Thanks.

70% of a 265mm width vs 65% of a 285mm wide tire is the same. (in height) the 285 is a little wider 3/4"......

3/4" wider overall difference - 3/8" on each side so there will be no rubbing at all?

Any reason why switching to BFG's would void warranties? Or cause unsafe conditions?
