Borla's New Titan Exhaust

I purchased this set-up and am less than thrilled with it. It's VERY tough to allow both Tips of the exhaust to clear the rear bumper. It's a tight fit with the way the tubes are bent and the hangers are welded. One tip or the other wants to roll up and contact the rear bumper, lotsa rattle. Took some time and tweaking but it's now in properly. Borla, could have made a few bend changes and shorted the tubing somewhat to aviod this issue. I'm also not too crazy about how the left rear pipe crosses in front of the rear end, looking at it from the rear of the truck. Looks cheesy and Definately after market. I expected better from them.
From a " Do it yourself " stand point, it was very easy and straight forward, no surprises there.
Noise level is on par with stock at idle and normal driving. It's ONLY when you get into it that the difference is noticed and it does sound sweet.
I picked the kit up from Sumit Racing, $675.00 to my door. If I had it to do over, I would choose another brand.

Nice to know. I'll cross that one off my list. It was pretty low on the list anyway. Thanks.

unfortunately not really suprised to hear that type of review on Borla stuff. The material they use (stainless) has always been great, but I have heard many complaints in the past of them having fittment problems, tips not lining up correctly etc.Rediculous really when you think about how much they charge for their stuff

Yeah, I agree. I had a Borla header on my Subaru 2.5RS and they had to send me a revised one because it was rubbing on the frame of the car. Even the new one hit, just not as much.

Marc Hogan, maybe you can settle the question I have been trying to ask Borla. I called them a while back, and they said it was a single-in, dual-out exhaust; a non-true dual set up starting after the factory Y-pipe. However, their website was recently updated to show a picture of the system, and it appears to me that it is a dual-in, dual-out muffler with pipes replacing the factory Y-pipe. So which is it? I have an email in to Borla, but have not received a response. Thanks.

Thanks for posting, I oringinally wanted the Borla. After your review I feel a little better...

With my Dyno saying I have 340 HP and 400 torque(flywheel) I'd like to think my Gibson Exhaust has something to do with those higher than stock numbers...

MARC HOGAN:

If you have the capability, could you please post some pics of the Borla system installed on your truck. I am still considering the system; however, I am concerned about how it would look. Thanks for the info!

Will load photos this weekend.
The Y-PIPE is removed completely. The muffler is in-fact a dual in, dual out. 2 short sections of pipe link each resonator to the inlet side of the muffer.

I'm seeing alot of different setups from Borla, Flowmaster, Gibson, Aero-something. I am really concerned about torque below 3,500rpm. My Armada seems to spend most of its time off the line and cruising at 80mph when the tach is below 2,000 rpm. All the torque graphs i see show hp and torque improvement at 3,500rpm and higher. But how about below that?
I for sure do not want to lose the lunge I get off the line.

Don't you need some backpressure to keep the torque? Don't duals have too little back pressure and lose torque?

Andy

You wont see below 3500 on a dyno from an automatic vehicle. You need to dyno high enough in gear that it wont downshift into the next lower gear. You still have some backpressure with all mufflers, so I wouldnt worry about that. If you look at the dyno graphs it does show gains over the entire curve, so I think we can extrapolate that this would show the same down low.

Mossy Nissan Parts Dept.
Tell them you want the "Titan Talk" discount.

Another user found a special from one of our vendors for $475 (including shipping?) and I believe the vendor was Titanparts247. May want to check if the special is still giong or if he can give you that price still.
