Nismo headers

For those that read the Offroad race results in the General Forums, looks like we are getting some headers soon. Anyone hear anything for a release date?

Mossy Nissan doesn't know. Don't know who else to ask. They are pretty big on their "Mossy Performance" division. Maybe they just don't want to pin down a date so as not to disappoint.
Will be nice. I waited and watched as those JBAs flopped. Hopefully Nismo will do as they have done before and release a decent product, performance- and price-wise.

I see your sig. Didn't catch your thread. What combo of Moroso and Banks parts make up your cat-back? If I remember correctly, you had 2.5" mandrel pipes made to replace your resonators also right?

It's a stepped setup. I come out of the cats at 2" (same as the cat), go to 2.5" for the bends, then 3" to the Morosos and it stays 3" to the Banks. I did the same thing you did by ordering the Banks flanges so it would match up. It all bolts on so if I ever needed to remove them I could.

Thing with the Nismos is that I'm wondering if they will be weld-ins or come with a performance cat.

preying for flanges... would like to have bolt-on straight pipes for off-road and track, put the cats back on to 'drive on the road' (really just to pass smog).
As with most headers, I'm sure you can hack them up and flange them yourself, as long as there is a nice straight piece for an inch or two right after the collecting area where all four tubes meet.
I agree that coming with high-flow cats would be nice, albeit expensive!

Speed-Freak posted this header pic from SEMA in the BAJA 1000 thread.

That O2 bung has to be a real PITA to reach... much like stock.
Good luck gettin that wideband in and out quicly at the dyno when you go with the Cheby boys.

Just went out and looked... on the stock setup I would have to say laying on your back and using a wrench coming from the bottom would be the easiest. The primary O2 sensor is mounted sideways.
This headers' bung is mounted straight up and you would have to go from the top with about a 24" extension and a specialty socket to get around the wires, probably one of those 3/8" drive pieces that goes to a wrench-end that I have seen at Sears.
There doesn't look to be enough wrench clearance looking in there and then comparing to this photo. They could have put that bung on the side or bottom and much lower on the pipe.
