Mandrel Bender in Wichita Falls, Texas

Got a quote today from an 30 year old muffler shop with a mandrel bender on site to do a new exhaust setup.

OK-- Cutting off both pipes right before each resonator and cutting again right after the stock muffler. Running both pipes into a dual in Flowmaster 40 or 50 with the same single out pipe currently on the truck. With a chrome tip on the end.

Get this $ 200 for the Flowmaster 40, parts and labor

$ 190 for the Flowmaster 50, parts and labor

Watcha guys think?????

Same shop that did my custom exhaust (see link below my signature) gave me a $450 estimate (Labor & parts incl) to remove OEM exhaust intact. fabricate mandrel bent aluminized pipes originating from new 2 bolt flanges, dual in-dual out Flow Master 40 series and dual out pipes with chrome tips. I don't think the price quote you got is bad at all however IMHO saving your entire OEM exhaust for future need is a prudent idea.

Are the 40 series FM really loud? I want to keep it kinda civilized when riding around between 60-75 mph. What I'm looking for is the sound you can hear when I floor it.

Series 40 is pretty descent. General all around set-up, good bark when floored. IMHO dual in-dual out with FM is the way to go. But I went for glass packs w/c is alot more radical. Only mellow at idle and cruising below 1400 RPM (Max 40 mph) then above 1500 RPMs you have to be a die hard NASCAR fan to tolerate the continuous "roar of the beast"

Dude, I'm no pipe bending expert, but i have looked at a lot of bends recently and yours look like they are pressure bent, not mandrel bent. Look on the inside of the bents and you can see where your the inner radius wall is compressed into the pipe so that the inside diameter of the pipe is not consistent throughout the bend.
