Hey Guys,
After relentlessly searching the internet I have found a vendor that can provide us with a true limited slip solution for our 2wd drive trucks
http://www.tractech.com . No more one tire spinning bull ****. According to this document
http://content.sema.org/images/pdf/33479.pdf Tractech sponsored a Titan in a SEMA auto show outfitted with there Detroit Truetrac differential. I emailed Tractech for part number info and so on....It will be nice to see what my Titan can do with both tires committed to turning. Especially after that Kenne bell supercharger comes out...You know one can only conclude Nissan never developed the Titan rear end differential from a performance stand point only a safety point of view. Even if you have VDC...VDC only works with the open diff by slowing down the engine in order to regain traction. If you are looking in on this from a performance stand point you would much rather want the engine to keep rolling and the torque to be balanced to the wheel/wheels that can grip
And for us guys with out Electronic Limited slip (which only works in 4 Lo), VDC or 4wd this mod could greatly increase tread life due to that inside tire no longer spinning helplessly out of control in low traction environments. I e-mailed tractech for part numbers and what is involved in converting over.
Here are the details.......
Detroit Truetrac®
Uses pairs of "Helical" gear sets
Gears only - no clutch packs.
Ideal for 4WD front axles or rear axles, as well as 2WD; light trucks, SUV’s, cars.
Rugged yet smooth and quiet.
Torque bias ratios of 2.5 to 3.5:1 range.
What I email Tractech.......
Tractech,
According to the attached document your email address was listed as a contact for information on truetrac differentials. According to a SEMA show and this Document a few Nissan titans were outfitted with a Detroit truetrac differential. I own a 04’ Nissan Titan 2wd SE and I am looking to replace my stock open diff with your Detroit Truetrac differential for more traction in preparation for a supercharger install. What exact part numbers would I need and how long do you think the average conversion for something like this take? Any Info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
