Towing with the Banks monster

This weekend was my first tow with the new monster exhaust, and while it felt a little more powerful (the power of suggestion is a powerful thing ), I noticed that when shifting down from 4th to third on the toggle, it sounded like there was a noticeable difference in air being sucked in.....noticeable in that I've never noticed a whooshing sound like this at all. Have any other Banksters/towsters experienced this? Now I'm no auto gear-head like some here but I'm a big fan of physics, and was theorizing that maybe because of the near unrestricted exhaust flow and the greater strain on the engine whilste towing, maybe it's hungry for more air??

I don't know, I have just been enjoying the rumble. I have only had mine on for one tank of gas and only pulled the camper about 50 miles round trip so I can't say that I noticed anything like that. I actually don't know if it has more power or not, I do know it sounds like it has more power.

for one thing your pedal is further depressed and throttle opened wider for any given rpm/speed because you have a load on so its natural that you would be drawing in more air than normal for your rpm/speed and thus you'd hear more intake noise. you'd probably hear it without banks too as you'd still need more air/fuel to pull the weight. juma

Sounds like a legit reason to me....except I've towed without the Banks for approx 4000k and never heard it near as much as I do now. No worries, it hauls like a beast.
Thanks for your reply.

Coach, how much did you finally end up paying for the system? Was Mossy willing to help you out?
When I tow with the Banks, I do hear the "sucking" sound, but I just attributed it to the Volant intake.
BTW, hows that drone? When towing at around 65 it gives me a headache. Time to turn up the radio!

I ended up going with the local dealer. They charged me $480 and I got to carry it off and install the next day. Mine drones around 1700 rpm, towing isn't as bad as I thought it would be....windows up, radio on buut not blaring. But then I only towed from old storage to our new one, so I'll experience it more when Spring comes.

Nice! in stock? Can't beat that. Didn't have to wait for shipping or anything. Do you have a lift or were you lying on your back to install? I was glad to not have a beer belly because I didn't even own a floor jack.

Let me know in about 1k miles if your chrome exhaust tip is loose/wiggling. I had to retighten mine all the time and eventually loc-tite the hell out of the clamp bolt.

How heavy was the weight that you towed? Do you feel the exhaust is broken-in yet/computer adjusted?
