**New**ECU Tuning to be provided by www.technosquareinc.com

Hey Guys,

Heads up I found a new company that will be providing ECU tuning for the mighty Titan. http://www.technosquareinc.com/nissan.htm seems do be a reputable company when it comes to custom tuning Japanese vehicles...at least that what i've read in the import performance car forums. I called today...they said they are still cracking certain portions of the Titans ECU and were about 2 months out before they start offering tuning for the Titan. I'll keep checking this url periodically to see when it's available http://www.technosquareinc.com/nissan.htm

What's your opinion? I'd buy this way before a Jet ECU upgrade. Shoot if I wasn't getting a supercharger in the near future I’d buy this right when it comes out.....I will have to wait till all of my mods are complete before tuning.

Anyway here is what they say about ECU tuning

"Reprogramming the automobile's ECU and customizing the data will enable you to achieve the total performance setup you strive for.
Today, automobiles come equipped with a computer, called the Engine Control Unit (ECU). It is through this computer that we are able to optimize performance, increase fuel economy, and maintain cleaner emissions. As the ECUs gain more and more function control, the window of compensation becomes narrower. What this means to you, the enthusiast, is that by simply adding bolt-on aftermarket components (ie. High flow exhausts system, high flow air cleaner, header, etc.) to your car will not give you the maximum performance increase these products were designed for. If you don't "tell" the car what you have changed, the engine will continue to run within the stock parameters. You will most likely detect some power increase, however, the damage being done to the engine may remain undetected. What is sustained in the long term directly defeats the purpose of installing these high performance products and , ultimately, the result could actually be a loss in horsepower, unreliable engine performance, or permanent damage to the engine itself. Simply 'tweaking" the ECU program to your car's specs will spare you those headaches.

Note:
In our ECU upgrade, we feature TECHTOM ROMBOARD and tuning device to give customer "REAL" upgrade. We don't sell so called "sticker tune" ECU like the other company do.

It will be a pretty decent deal if it stays around the $400-500 mark (doubtful since they probably wont sell too many) and allow for individual adjustments to the variables and not preset fuel/timing curves. Good to see someone taking the Titan seriously.

SmokeDYA2,

Thanks for the reply..Do you think the Venom 400 is for real?..Jeg's says this thing can make 25% more power....i dunno about that...shoot that would be over 75hp on a Titan @ 25%...

Here is what Jegs is saying or visit http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...61&prmenbr=361

Gain Up To 25% More Horsepower!
The Venom 400 PCM is an add on comtrol unit that features it's own micro-controller. This module is connected to the throttle position sensor and the manifold absolute pressure sensor, and by monitoring the sensors output characteristics and modifying the input signal to the vehicles existing ECU. It improves horsepower by as much as 25% from 1,000-5,000 RPM. It is OBD II compatible. It also reduces flat spots, or delays timing, and automatic transmission downshift delay under sudden acceleration. The Venom 400 uses an 8-bit micro-controller that is capable of monitoring the various sensor inputs and modifying their outputs at more than 40 times per second. It even works with other performance chips that have been installed. It has an on/off switch so that smog certification is possible without detection of the unit. Installation requires basic hand tools and only four electrical connections.

yeah thats basically what they told me on what it does. i asked them for hp #'s that they expected to see and they said they dont have an answer for me nor did they claim 25%. i have seen there claims in some truck magazines for 25% increase, but i think its a load of crap. its interesting that it can be used with other chips, bet it would make one hell of a program adding the tuning your talking about to the venom 400 module, can you say POWER!!!

I'd stay FAR FAR away from the Jet ECU and Venom ECU -- they both are junk.

The technosquare ECM and associated hardware/software will retail for $700. A bit high for me.

Technosquare was brought up on another post earlier but I don't feel like doing a search.

i dont know much about JDM chip tuning....but i highly doubt that electrical programming will gain 25% hp.

on a turbo car (like my VW GTI 1.8T) ....this is possible because you can increase the stock boost pressure from 8psi to 16-20psi. (it would push the hp from 150/180 (depending on engine code) to 200hp in some cases) this chip cost me about $500 and was well worth it. complimented many of the various other mods i put on the car.

On my VW 2.0 liter motor, The chip only gained in the area of 8-12hp for about $100.

I suspect any chip tuning done for the titan will gain about 15hp and I feel it shouldnt cost more then $200.

Unfortunately, the performance gain you get is not always what dictates the price. I know that most of what Technosquare does is pretty involved, for example, to modify a 3000GT or Stealth ECU, they have to solder a new chip onto the mainboard and program that chip. Both the time and labor necessary to do this isnt cheap, and the equipment from Technosquare to program the chips isnt cheap either.

This is what dictates cost, more then the HP gain. My guess, as far as a chip for the Titan goes... you might be able to lean it up, bump up some timing, etc. but your looking at slighly (very very slight) better gas mileage, and perhaps some small HP gains.

JWT is were my money will be going when they come out with ECU tuning. When I had my 95 SE-R I imported a SR20DET motor and did the swap. I talked with JWT numerous times and gave them all the info and what I wanted out of the car and they made a custom program. It work flawlessly, I never even got a check engine light and it still passed emssions. They also have great customer service. It cost me $600 and I had to send them my ecu but it was well worth it. Just my $.02

On my lightning I had to put on bigger pulley, chip, spark plugs and KN air filter and gained 50 hp, (that was proved on the dyno) for six hundred dollars. That pretty good for the money, so I know the chip for the TITAN cuoldnt gain more than 20. The combination of a cam and chip would probly get u 50 more HP. They are changing cams in the Gm trucks with proper tune and gaining 50-60 hp easily.
