Just ordered the Gibson Dual Sport

I just ordered the Gibson Dual Sport Aluminized exhaust today. Cost me $437 shipped. I got tired of the nasty drone from my Flowmaster Super 40 and rather than starting to add resonators and changing things around I decided to just go with a designed and tested cat back (or so they say ). I have had good luck with Gibson in the past so I figured I'de give it a shot. Besides, I like the Gibson tips best and the dual tip style I think is more unique/clean looking too. (that's just my opinion ) I will post some pics when I get it. Should be late next week or so.

Yes Sir,

I read on Gibson's site the Split Rear system may interfere with the spare tire...

I'm gonna add the Gibson de-resonated startup zip on that link. Check that out...

sounds awesome finns!!!

i drove in prerunnergregs titan with the gibson and i like the gibson over the banks, especially because the drone is almost non-existent with the gibson. granted the banks outright just sounds mean as hell, the gibson has a sound that is between the banks and stock, in my opinion just right for ME!!!

I couldn't find this anywere on the site? Were did you see this info? That defenitly concerns me a little, but I don't think I'm gonna worry too much about it. Well other than this, I'm glad to hear all the positives.

Good deal Prometheus,

Pretty much no drone and almost too quiet for me

I was used too the really loud obnoxious exhaust sound and when I got the Gibson it was a little too quiet for my taste.

I had removed the resonator hoping to wake er up some and it did. In doing so I also awoke a little more popping under WOT and maybe some performance. I have read this has been reported (popping) in other systems as well. Maybe the Endurance is such a beast...
You get used to it. I'll take a little popping for an overall better sound as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers,

Mike

QWIKWHIP,

I apoligize and stand corrected, it's the Split Rear and not the Dual Sport that has potential spare tire clearance issues. Sorry bout that.

Is the only difference between the Dual Sport and the Extreme Dual the placement of the exhaust pipes? I couldn't find any other differences between the two systems, so I'm assuming they'll both sound the same?

Also, Finn: How easily is the resonator removed? Is it a simple resonated sleeve slid into the piping? Wondering what is required in the removal... I like the volume without it resonated, but I think I would prefer it to be quieter on long trips.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Since it's attached with u-clamps it comes off pretty easily. Yes it just slips into the 3" piping. Here's some picture's of it...

I was under the impression that they were the same, just different tip locations. Maybe I will make a call to Gibson on Monday and ask, unless Finnattic has already confirmed this? I think they all use the same muffler except the swept side which is a little more tame. I was torn between the two and finally decided on the dual sport because I have the lock box and didn't want any possible interferance.

Did that increase any drone when you removed it?
