straight pipe exhaust question

ok the other day working on some cars some guys and I decided to pull my exhaust off from the resonators back and it sounded bad *** so I was thinkin of makin some straight pipes just bolt on to the resonators and dump right in front of each rear wheel. so the question is has anyone done this? what size piping would be best?

Hell, I would worry about the people behind him. If the Titan is as loud as every other truck around here with straight pipes then you'll have no problem waking people up..........over in China.

If the law don't get ya for disturbing the peace by busting people's ear drums, the post some pics of how you route the pipes around the gas tank. Also, do you have a KC or CC? I thought about dumping between the cab (crew cab) and passenger rear wheel, but there just isn't enough room to do it without the exhaust coming in the cab and off people's legs when the rear door opens.

Routing around the gas tank on the drivers side would be a BIG issue. If i had it to do over again i'd put true duals after the cat and null out those resrictive resonators.... weld you in some bungs to mount the post cat o2 sensors...then i'd hit an X pipe or a dual muffler or a dual in/out muffler around the stock y-pipe location before dumping dual 2.5's before the rear tire. Keep those fancy tips clean....

I'm not clear......are you talking straight pipes from behind (downstream) the resonators, or are you talking about eliminating the reso's?? Leaving resos and just eliminating the muff wouldn't be nearly as loud as eliminating reso and muff, and would at least allow you to pass the "visual" part of an inspection by mr. ociffer! Either way, you're braver than me.

I have a Texas Speed rumbler catback on my 5.7L Camaro. Its basically straight pipes with no muffler after the cat. Its loud but tolerable. Makes it even more fun to drive. I'd imagine the Titan would not be louder then my car.........now ya got me wanting to do this to my Titan also!
