That hurt my eyes just trying to read it, let alone understand it.

What ever happened to basic English, grammer, spelling and syntax? Do they just not teach any of it in elementary school anymore?

Well, they TRY to teach it in scool. But, we now have to pass everyone because we can't make little Johnny feel inferior just because he cannot read, write, nor do basic math, we still must pass him with the other kids. We cannot have a Valedictorian or Salutatorian anymore, it makes the flunkies feel inferior. We cannot post the honor roll students any longer, it makes Skateboarder Bruce feel dumb. In case you don't know what either of those happen to be, the Valedictorian is the student with the highest academic rank in a class who delivers the valedictory at graduation. The Saludatorian is the student with the second highest academic rank in a class who delivers the salutatory at graduation exercises. I get upset with todays lack of effort at communication. Nowadays, your first impression with people is your grammer on the internet, it is the first thing folks "see" about you. Some of us REFUSE to lower our communication skills to a level equivalent to some of the folks posting on the internet. If you can speak proper English, type it.
Enough ranting,,,have a Blessed Day

Cajun, you are so right. I work for Jefferson ISD in Texas, we can celabrate the fact that someone can run with a football or shoot a basketball, but we can't honor the smart kids. And we must never ever say " Jesus " in school.

Sounds like a perfect time for some civil disobediance. What are they gonna do, expell everyone? Jesus!

DAMN! You beat me to the punch on that one! But what about "Scool?" That was my favorite.

Cajun, I agree. However, before we get too carried away we should remember: "Let the one without sin cast the first stone." Or perhaps in a more secular sense, "[t]hose in glass houses ought not throw stones."

Bob Dylan, in his wonderful "My Back Pages" gave us this literary image: "In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dog to teach . . . fearing not I'd become my enemy in the instance that I preach."

With respect, I think that:

"scool," might be better spelled: school.

Is it "Salutatorian" or "Saludatorian"? I don't think both are correct. My Webster's suggests that the former is correct. Agree?

"todays" Isn't that used as a possessive? Perhaps it should be today's?

"Nowadays" Is that a word? It is not in my dictionary. Perhaps it is colloquial speech? Today or these days, or now might be more appropriate.

"your first impression with people is your grammer on the internet, it is the first thing folks "see" about you."

Perhaps there should be a period after the word "internet", which I think should be capitalized, and then start a new sentence with "It is . . . ?

Just a humble suggestion. I could be mistaken and seek apology if I have fallen into the same trap.

Having said that, the original poster's shortcut, stream of consciousness post was almost beyond comprehension. But, we should be careful in correcting. I hope I was, and if not, please correct me too. We all make mistakes.
