I ordered mine from Summit on Feb 2, and at the time it said that it should arrive on 3/14. I just went out and checked the order status and now it's showing expected arrival of 4/1. Two months of waiting is pure torcher. Can't wait to get my flowmaster exhaust hooked up!

I would definitely get the joints welded. BTW, mine are side exit and do not hit the storage.
Hmm, ok. Maybe I'll get everything welded up except for the last segment so I can still flip between rear and side exit until I figure out what I want. So far it sounds nice. A little cabin noise in the 50 to 60 mph range, but nothing that turning up the stereo won't mask.
Just got done installing the Flowmaster system. A little under three hours, but I cheated with airtools. I'll see what it sounds like on a run up to the local pub for some dinner. The drivers side pipes from the muffler back though don't seem to be very tight and actually still move around. I'm a little worried about them falling out. I'll see if I can hit a place on the way to work tomorrow to weld it up. Oh yeah, looks like if you have the storage trunk the side exit will get in the way, so I took the dual exit out the back. -Steve
I would def get the joints welded. I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar to tighten all the clamps (especially the ds tailpipe). My shop only charged me $20 to weld everything but the tips. Changed them out to some nice double-wall SS tips and painted the tailpipes back to just over the axle so they'd blend in a little better.

My exhaust finally shipped from Summit yesterday. According to UPS, I should be getting it this afternoon. Hopefully it warms up today so that I don't freeze my a$$ off tonight putting it on. I woke up to 19 degress this morning.

I ordered mine two weeks ago today and received it in 6 days. Do not order via the internet, call them and place the order directly. Summit had Flowmaster build my cat back exhaust and drop ship it directly to me rather than to summit then to me, because the systems were backordered. The rep said flowmaster takes 4 days to build the system and I had mine on the 6th day delivered to my door with no shipping charge. the system sounds great!

That's great advice. Ordered mine via internet from Summit and it took close to a month to get it due to back order!

I got it today and slapped it on. Took me about 3-4 hours and took just about everything out of me. I don't know if being behind a desk for 5 years has made me soft, but I'm wooped after putting that thing on. One suggestion is to invest in a 14mm deep socket and a 18" breaker bar. Without those two items I would have never been able to start or finish the job. I went with the dual side exits setup. I need to do some fine tuning on the tips tomorrow to get them to balance on both sides, but all in all it looks pretty good.

I'm curious, if you still have the installation instructions what is the date written on them? I am trying to find out if they ever revised the instructions since October 2004 (date that was on mine).

I have a quick exhaust question for you guys, since I am exhaust ignorant
I have seen plp went with 3” pipes and some who went with 2.5”. What are the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other? Or is it just preference to sound?
Thanks in advance

Installed my flowmaster last week and ever since then when I get out of the truck I smell a burnt smell. I got under the truck a day or two ago to see if anything is touching the exhaust pipes. I had plenty of clearance all the way down the exhaust. I even bought a band clamp heat shield from Summit and clamped it onto the exhaust on the passenger side where it goes over the rear axel. Somewhat close to the brake line but wasn't even close to touching and no signs of being burnt. I just wanted to safe than sorry.
I got out and smelled the pipes and it looks like its the source is coming out of the pipes and not a burnt hose. So has anyone ever heard of this before or is this normal break in?
I'm guessing some piece of the packing material got lodged in one of the pipes during shipment and is slowly burning up. I'm thinking about tearing the exhaust down and try to locate the problem. Thought I'd ask here before I do something that drastic.

Mine initially had an odd but faint odor, possibly a metallic type odor or a residue burning off from the exhaust pipes somewhere. After driving a few hundred miles over a period of about a week it was gone. My brother told me he had a similar odor with his after market exhaust on a Camaro he owned a few years ago (also went away after driving it a short while). You can always call Flowmaster's tech support and see what they say.

Yes, mine did the same. The smell is from the muffler burning off some paint. Look at the muffler and see if it's starting to discolor.

i've had 2 different flowmasters put on and they smell for about a week (with some good miles put in) the smell will slowly go away. it is a combination of the welds/new muffler breaking in to the engine heat. nothing is melting/burning.
sit back and enjoy the rumble
ps. which size did you get and did you put a tip on the end--if so what size and have you had any significant drone at about 1700 rpms?
Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. I guess I haven't driven it enough to burn off everything yet. I only live about 7 miles from work so I feel a road trip coming on this weekend.
Stick, I got the American Thunder setup that they are selling at Summit. I believe it's a 70 series muffler. I've got a little drone from 1,500 to 1,700 RPM, but it's not too bad at all. I had some with the factory setup as well. I've got the big tow package so at that RPM I'm usually doing around 55-60 MPH. Most of my drive into work is on the highway, and at 70 MPH I can't tell any difference between stock and the new setup. Now if you put your foot into it, the new setup will definitely let you know its back there. Hope this helps!
