New Diff Cover?

I noticed on another Titan that I was behind had an aluminum Differential cover with fins? Is that on the new 05' or is this aftermarket?

New for the 05. From what I've read, they're backordered so It would take a while to get you one. There are a lot of other threads that mention this if you want to search for them. I won't go into it all here.

The finned diff. cover is not on all 05's. The early build dates have the old cover.

Are they available?

Are the 05' Diff covers the same bolt pattern and can you purchase the cover for the 05' to fit on an 04'?

After 18,000 miles my minds eye tells me that this cover is more Bling Bling than anything else. (mobil1 in the diff after 1000 miles and I still have paint on the diff). I'll save the money for something else.(Just Me)

You always have something wise to say!

Maybe If you tried towing something as much as I do you'd be in the same boat as I am!

I think a Kobota tractor on a 16 ft trailor would be considered towing. If you don't want a response, why post a question?

What a wise A*%!!!

You always have something really sarcastic to say, on almost every thread! I guess every question someone asks, it always has to revolve around you! Nothing new to ya, from reading all your posts!

Squid's just trying to liven up things around here. What's the harm in having a little fun while we learn about our Titans? Well, anyway, you got your answer to a question that could have easily been answered with a simple search. A search for the word "differential" returns 20 pages of results, most of which mention the new finned cover.

Seriously though, if you can't take a little sarcasm and humor maybe you should go check out some other Titan site. You'll come to hate this one very quickly.

Question Watcha Towing?????

prlauren.........hi.........watcha towing in NY??????? Where in NY???? Checking and changing the rear fluid is your first step. If the aluminium cover was a must there would be a recall.....fluids first. Got it??????

there seems to be some heat problems with the rear diff.. some pics of the rear cover look as if they have been hot enough to bubble the paint. nissan has also changed the weight to 75w140 synthetic, instead of the 80w90 dino. there had to be some data that made this change happen.

if i inteneded on towing excessive weight i would look into the aluminum cover and the new 75w140.

i disagree, i think that there arent enough diff problems for a recall. it could be that the most of the ones having diff problems are the ones that tow alot. with that there wouldnt be a recall but a concern for nissan to change it. because most people dont tow. like the brake thing some people are having problems and some arent, thats why there is tsb and no recall. the brake problem seems larger that the rear diff could explain no tsb for the diff.

Thanks Smooth Titan!

Thanks for a real reply and not sarcasm! I live in NY. I do alot of surf fishing by the ocean and pull my trailer on the beach. I also make frequent trips to Hunter mountain and Plattekill in the spring and summer for downhill mountain biking. So the question is yes I tow alot! I just heard some threads about the over-heating of the rear ends and wanted to do the right thing. I guess some people have to be sarcastic about everything! Thanks for some reliable info Smooth Titan and Tom Mincarelli it is appreciated!
