800+ hp Ford Lightning

Through my best buddy, I was introduced to this company because I was looking for a place to do a base dyno run on my Titan. So I started to talk with Mark, (an employee and very nice guy), and he started talking about boosting the Titan. He favors a turbo setup. Anyway, he said depending on what I wanted done, the Titan would be putting 500+ hp to the wheels.

They do everything. Dyno tune the ecu with a Greddy E-manage system, intercoolers, etc.

This is good news for me because I thought the only shops that would tune my Titan were on the west coast.

On a side note, they have been working on a 800+ hp Ford Lightning! So east coast brothers, watch out!!

He hopes it would put 500hp and be reliable he means. To my knowledge this has not been done and is an unknown right now. By all means be the first..........I would look into the cost of a new engine from nissan first though.

I was unaware that Greddy's E-manage could program the CAN system we have. I'll check into that.

The engine is not the weak link. It's the Dana 44.

When you start talking turbo or super charger, changing the whole rear end is nothing. just my thoughts

What would you change it to? That's my concern. I made sure I mentioned that to Mark.

There are several different rear ends that would hold up to weight of a truck with 800 HP. Do a Google search for dragrace rear ends and you will come up with a few.

No need to spend the money on a Pro Rock, a regular Dana 60 or 70 from Dynatrac or anywhere else should hold up fine, the Pro Rock was designed for off road clearance which isn't a concern here. A Ford 9" from Currie would also hold up as well.

Any axle out of a late model American 3/4 ton truck would also work, and the current rear end in the new F-150's might work too.

With any axle swap into a 4wd Titan you might have a hard time finding the right gears to match the front end since the Titan's use such a weird gear ratio.

Dana 44 a weak link??? Hmmm . . . I think the Titan's rear would do fine at 500HP (Maybe Not at 800 though). It may not take a 5000 RPM launch on slicks but, then again, neither will the trans. I have a good buddy running a blown 468 in an '88 Chevy Half Ton short bed with a GM Corporate 10 Bolt rear. I know he is pushing 500+ horses and it's been that way for 7 years. I would put my money on the Titan's Dana 44 inspired rear before a GM Corporate 10 Bolt any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I would like to think so. But I was making the assumption based on the rearends that have gone south already in some of the Titans.

I think the rearends that have failed so far were heat releated. Aside from the Troll who claimed he broke his rear and left parts all over the ground (whatever) I have not heard of anyone snapping an axle or grenading the ring, pinion, or spiders. I think the Titan's rear will be ok at 500hp just as long as there are no 5000rpm launches on slicks (not possible anyway without a Torque Converter swap) or nuetral drops. Just my opinion though.
