Well I got started on the electric fan conversion. I had fitment issues with the Ford fan I was going to use and it just got to the point that I didn't like how it was going together. I have a pair of Perma-cool fans coming this week and I hope to get them in this Sunday. I did get my main bracket built and take a pic of the engine compartment with the stock stuff out. The stock fan weighs a lot. My guess is 5 pounds, minimum. The clutch is huge. Other than having to remove the upper radiator hose (and draining enough coolant to remove it), removal of the stock stuff was easy.

Glad to see you making progress on this, head. Too bad about the Ford fan not working out. How much cfm do the new Perma-Cools flow? Did you order them as a kit w/ t-stat, relay, etc or are you gonna roll your own? Thanks...

More power to the wheels. In some cases people are getting as much as 15hp to the wheels with this modification, which is more than a lot of things out there for the Titan (if it turned out to be that much). In a lot of cases it results in better gas mileage too. My old S-10 got 2 mpg with this mod and I don't know if it got 15hp but it was at least 14. It ran much, much better.
In addition, since I spend a lot of time at the track this will allow me to cool things off the way I would like to rather than relying on just letting the truck sit for 30 minutes or longer. And even then not get the cooling I would like to have.

I got two of the 14" fans with the metal blades. I went with the DC Controls fan controller since it is a progressive voltage controller. It only uses what it needs (variable speed controller). I am running the stock thermostat right now. Bear in mind that the water coming into the engine will be cooler, and by the time it reaches the thermostat it'll still be plenty hot to keep it open. The controller has settings for 195 and 180 so it's a simple matter of switching those. I'll also be putting in a manual switch to turn it all on full blast when I want to and possibly a timing circuit to turn them on for 5 minutes at a time (like when in the pits or staging lanes).

eric, i'm guessing you are going to be the first to get a supercharger on your titan?
i think you have the greatest need for speed on this forum...or at least in the houston area
I might go with the supercharger if it proves to be better than the nitrous and stock ECM setup that I'm running now.
The supercharger is going to have to put out an awful lot of power. I'm sure it will but the big question is how much on a real person's truck? Not advertising or what they said at the auto show.
The other big issue is if the ECM will function properly. That will have to be changed in order to run the supercharger and after reading some of the stuff the 350Z crowd is going through on some things, well... I just hope it works out for the supercharger. Some of those guys are having issues just on the naturally aspirated engines. I'm sure it is possible to do, I just wonder what it will be like.

Awesome. I'm a big fan of variable speed control, vs just bangin a motor on/off via a relay. I use VFD's on a lot of mech equip at work, i.e., fans, pumps, etc. Tight control w/ nice soft starts, no high inrush amps to deal with. Thanks for the info, can't wait to see how you're install goes.

Well the mechanical setup is more reliable over the long run. And it does work. I guess you can't argue with that. I'm sure it was cheaper for them to build the truck that way as well. But man that fan is heavy. Did I mention it was heavy?
Heeeaaaaaavvvvyyyyyyy.
