Gibson Exhaust Question

Has anyone installed the Gibson split dual exhaust system? The description says that the 4WD spare may have to be removed in order to run dual out the back. Why would this be different than a 2WD? The spare can't be that much bigger, or does it pertain to another issue ... suspension? Help!!

Hey Painkiller,
I've got the Gibson Extreme duals on my SE KC 4x4 and there wasn’t any kind of problem with clearance and the spare tire. I did have to cable tie the brake lines out of the way so they wouldn’t be resting on the pipes.
I do like the sound of the Gibson, not much louder than stock at idle and no drone at highway speeds.

Is that the angled out the back look? Do you think that would make the diff with the straight out the back option? Thanks

I have the angled look (tow a bass boat) but I don't see where the straight ones would interfere with the spare tire either.

Thanks, I don't want a loud exhaust while driving, but I would like a little growl on acceleration.

Hey PainKiller, I have the Gibson Split Rear Exhaust on my Titan, straight out the back. Everything is clear, the only reason I believe they say it may have to be removed is for installation itself, when you have to bolt the hangers for the exhaust system in the rear, I could just barely get my hand up there to the frame, which in sense made it a pain in the arse. Other than that I have my Gibson Split Rear exhaust system and my 18" full size spare. My pleasure, Brian

gftitan04, does straight out the back on a 4wd apply to all exhaust concerning the spare tire or only gibson?

The Gibson should be perfect for you. Very pleasant tone. I have heard the Banks and it’s a little too loud for my taste (but I’ve hit the old farts age group). I have a RX7 with headers and a Greedy system for the days I need loud. Hardly any thing out there that can turn gas into noise better than a rotary.

I heard that it was an issue with quite a few out there 4wd or not. That's why I went full custom. As you can see from the pics, they did a great job getting around the spare.

I have the Gibson split dual (straight out the back). No fit problems!!
The system is not much louder at idle (has a real nice little rumble) and I would say it is quieter at highway speeds. I have attached my attempt at a sound clip (I was fighting the rain and never tried again to make another). Hope this helps!!

Is stainless really necessary and if so what conditions really drive it over the aluminized?

Where's a good place online to buy a Gibson?

Does anyone know if the out the back pipe dual version will work without moving the spare on a 4x4 with off-road and big tow package?
