Just removing resonators

Has anyone just removed their resonators and left the stock mufflers? How did it sound? I was thinking of just doing this instead of installing 50 series flowmasters. I do not like to have the loud drone in the cabin.

thanks for any responses

I tried that exact thing on my 4x4. I used to run the straight pipes on my 4x2 and of course I kept them when I traded it in. So while I was waiting on my Gibson exhaust to arrive I installed the straight pipes on a totally stock system and it sounded really weird. No drone or anything but it just sounded odd. It's really too hard to explain. Let's just say I wouldn't recommend doing it based on the odd sound it produces....

I have the Flowmaster *DELTA* 50 series on my 4x4 Titan, and I dont think the drone is bad at all. Its at its loudest drone at about 1500-1700 RPM. After that, its pretty tame... unless ya stick yer foot into it. At highway cruise, I swear I think its QUIETER than the stock. No lie! As a side note, I'll add that I did have an X-pipe installed right where the stock Y pipe was. I *think* this helps tone down the drone a lot.
