Volant air scoop no go with off road pkg

I've been in contact w/Joe @ Volant for the past 10 months, just got a note from him asking to pass on the scoop is not mounting up correctly on trucks with the off road package. He has had some customers call in and the problem is being addressed. Now that I type this, I am wondering if he meant just the LE or all with the off road (I have the LE). Bad news for me, I got the scoop two days before the email but it has been to cold in Ohio for me to try to put it on.

Joe has been great about working with me, and others, on fit issues with the early boxes. I'm sure it will get worked out. Joe also noted he will put a note on the factory website. If I get any other info, I'll post it.

LOOk!

It looks like they are using the same bolt that the tow hook and skid plate are used for! From the pic that is. I have seen the picture of the scoop on this forum somewhere. If you don't have an offroad package you won't have the skid plate or the tow hooks!

Thats no entirely true. I have a 4x4 w/o Off-Road and I have the tow hooks but not the skide plate.

So, did you get screwed or does the skid plate only come on the LE?

Tow hooks are strangely packaged...

In '04 it came with the OR Pkg truck or on the LE's.

In '05 it came with my Trac Pkg (We didn't get OR on this one - same truck less that).

I also have the tow hooks and skid plate on my 04 XE CC. I thought maybe the Offroad package gave a beefier skid plate. I can dent the one I have with my hands.

The one you guys are talking about is just a splash gaurd, not a skid plate. And I also have an SE 4x4 w/o offroad and I have the tow hooks. If I remember right all 4x4's have the tow hooks and 4x2's with off road have them. The big skid plate is only part of the off road package.

Thats what I thought. The skid plate on mine is more of a cover than anything else.

Does the scoop fit with the splash guard, I'm starting to have fitment issues with the splash guard. Any photos will help.

Check my photos in the Photo Gallery, there is one of the scoop as it passes through the splash guard and along the frame.

Do they still sell the one that goes to the fog light hole? Or did they stop producing that one for this one that goes to the tow hook hole?

The first version would not fit all models and had a tendency to fall off. The current version fits all models and is very well secured. You probably wouldn't want the first version, it only fit the XE and they are no longer producing it.

Evidentally it's not because I can't get one and have the tow hooks and skid plate.
