Air Intake

I am getting my Titan next week and putting together my mod wish list. I was wondering which air intake works the best with the Titan, a K&N or Volant. I used the K&N in my Tundra and like the throttle response but, hated the loud high pitch sound it makes when you get on it. The Volant looks like it will be quieter then the K&N. Just wanted your opinions.

I put about 2 inches of foam around and on top of my Volant, and it is quiter than it was with the stock air box.

I had the K&N aircharger on my 04 and have the 77 series on my 05. The aircharger has a plastic tube while the 77 has a metal tube. The 77 was easier to put on ( about 10 few clamps etc.). Other than that they are the same. Both work (ed) great. no problems. Get one you won't be sorry.

I installed the K&N charger and found that at 2800 rpms something vibrates in the front and it seems to lose power then.

Airraid vs. K&N

I just got my Titan today, and I think I'm going with the K&N. I've looked around a little online and it looks like the K&N adds more Horsepower. They sound good too, my buddy has one on his Hemi and it sounds mean.

I have the volant and I take it over the k/n simple due to the oil Air sensor issue (the k/n oil is really thick)

and it is sealed

but I hate to admit it but the AEM looks cooler, even if it might not be as effective--lol

Im going to try one out and compare the two

tehone things that scares me is that I read somewhere that the AEM uses the k/n filter--I wonder if the oil is the same viscosity??

well see on the reviews though

1bad hurry up and get that sucker in and do some revs and a review

What bothers me about the AEM

I had a 350Z and screwed around with two pretty identical CAI.

The difference was a metal/chromed intake tube.

In the Florida heat the metal tube is a killer when it comes to power. Not only is it heating the air in the engine it's retaining heat in the engine bay.

Yes, they do LOOK better, but on a dyno they don't.

I'd be curious to see the atmospheric conditions for the AEM dyno that produced those numbers.

I know there are all kinds of numbers that say the air is only in the tube for 1 billionth of a sceond, but I know from dyno experience that there is a difference.

I'm personally leaning towards the volant but would like to be able to take advantage of the 2nd intake tube. Any news on a fix for non XE Titans?

Thanks,

--bml

The new ram air fits all the models, SE/LE/XE but since it mounts in the driver's side tow hook hole, there is a problem with the off road models, the tow hook and skid plate make it difficult to mount as it is now.
