Need experienced advice on Exhaust system to purchase
I have a 2005 XE 2WD and want an aftermarket exhaust, what are you using and how do you like it? I hear alot about drone and that it's bad. I mostly drive around town, few long trips. I want some rumble going on, but I don't want it to sound like an old chevy.

I am interested in Banks and FLowmaster.
There are lots of nice systems. I know you said your interested in Banks and Flowmaster although B & B, Bassani, SS, Ractive are something to consider as well.
I have a Borla on mine and love it, Here's the info and sound clips...
It took graduation from the "School Of Hard Knocks" (Marine Corps), with an associates in "Combat Vet" from Fallujia University to open the door to my dream job.
"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference to the world, but the Marines don't have that problem..." If you can read in english, thank a Marine.

Here's my two cents worth. I owned a 2000 durango with the 4.7. The first mod I did was replace the factory muffler with a magnaflow single in single out. The sound from outside was great, and the difference in accleration and low end torque was tremendous, but I could not live with the interior sound. I changed to a flowmaster 40, immediate loss of power from the magnaflow and the drone was still too loud inside. Switched out to the flowmaster 50 for SUV's, the owner of the shop did it for the difference of cost from the 40 to the 50, still too loud inside but no more power loss. At this point I still wanted the sound and performance, but not the drone so I did a little research. Turns out Gibson had a bolt on version for my durango. Ordered it, put it on, no more drone or loss of power. Very Happy with the Gibson. I will be putting on next week the Gibson dual side swept exhaust.
BTW after two tranny rebuilds, 3 sets of rotors, 6 sets of pads, new radiator, new radiator fan, all before 80,000 miles, I traded the durango in December for an '04 Titan LE with the big tow pkg.
had the gibson, liked it...well at first i thought it was awesome, but the reality was that it sounded good at start-up, and if you were standing next to it when it was at an idle. going down the road it had a nice sound in the cab, but people that were on the side of the road didn't think much of it. the power and torque were decent, but the part that made that was my airbox mod(Volant) along with the gibson. with that said tomorrow im going to get an other exhaust put on. this time its 2 1/4" true duals with glass packs and a split rear exit and 3 1/2" chrome tips. stay tuned for the outcome. the bottom line is, depending what you are looking for...weather its power, sound, gas mileage, or any combination of them, you just have to do the research, or ask questions that are a little less general.
I saw you had a dodge, I have heard about the slipping trannies in those, did the motor start burning oil before 80,000? why did you need a new radiator? just curious.
With the exhaust issue on the titan, you need a muffler that will absorb the sound and provide good sound. So you need an oval muffler that is large enough to absorb the sound. Bigger is better, those Gibson, and banks use an oval straight through canister, like a universal Grapefruit shooter you see on the Honda civics. Find a large oval, not a canister type if you don't want the interior sound to kill you. I had a dynomax ultra-flow in my frontier and the interior resonance almost killed me at 60 mph, at 80 the sound dissapeared! its that range. only an oval or OEM style (size) can prevent that.

Put the Banks on about 6 months ago and I love it. Drone? My hearing is for $hit so it doesn't bother me. Actually, it's not that bad, the trade-off is worth it. When I steady accelerate, that bad boy just turns heads, and I'm sure I can feel the 10 hp gain

Actually the engine was the best part of the Durango. I bought it used, 16,000 miles. The first oil change I switched it to M1 5w-30 with the k & n
oil filter, changed both every 6,000 miles. Never had to top off the oil at all betwen changes.
The first time the tranny gave out was at the Outer Banks in NC. Had a car full, on the beach and it just quit pulling. Had to have it towed off the beach at 9pm. Talk about moon light strolls.
The radiator just stopped up. I pull a boat, about 3k pounds, nothing too big. Tried to run the AC and it started to overheat. Had to open the windows, 95 degrees on I85. Called a radiator shop with a good reputation and the first thing he said is "have had a lot of those dodges in here with stopped up radiators, this is your problem." Sure enough it was so stopped up he couldn't rod it out.
Liked the Durango, just couldn't afford to keep repairing.
I would go custom, that way you you can choose a setup that you think works best like where the pipe comes out or what size & type of tip(s). Also down the road you can change out the mufflers as well.
