I'm glad you posted the announcement that you got a 50 series installed.

My story:
I decided yesterday to get a Flwomaster installed. The only thing they had in stock at "Big Giant Muffler" was a 40 series. Yeah, it sounds cool, but I've noticed a very pronounced drone between 1500-1900rpm. I think the wife is embarrassed to be seen in it and we have to really speak up to be heard inside the cab when we're in the 45-55mph zone. The guy at the muffler shop says he will swap out the 40 for 50 for an additional $60 (over the $260 I already paid.)

So, my question is... how's the drone on the 50? I was thinking 70, but I've heard some complaints that all you hear is the engine with a 70 series. I'm hoping the 50 is the sweet spot.

My other option is to have a resonator installed and some smaller tips. That wouldn't hurt performance, would it?

Thanks!

All you hear is the engine with a 70 series? I really don't think so! Mine is a little loud! Click the link in my sig to hear it.

I have the same exhaust and all I can say is that 'this is what a powerful truck is SUPPOSED to sound like!'.

Also, adding a resonator will not cure a drone.

Scotts,
It is the complete cat-back system - Flowmaster American Thunder. You can get it at Summit for $417 shipped. I love the way it sounds as well.

Damn I love the roll pan. That's the first one I've seen on a lowered Titan. It looks great!

I agree. Plenty of exhaust note with my 70 series. My wife is not embarrased to ride with me and we can hear each other in the cab without having to raise our voices - LOL, unless we're arguing. Links to my exhaust system are also in my sig.

Ditto on the 70 series.....it is not quiet, by any stretch. If it were any louder, I'd be putting something else in!

Not sure what you mean by "they haven't made any kits". Several of us have the Flowmaster cat-back kit that m95roadster referred to in this thread. Kit #17406 for $417 from summitracing.com. It uses the 70 series muff and is plenty loud for most. The 40 series will really drone a lot, which isn't a problem for some, I guess. Plus you'll still have a very restrictive y-pipe, whereas the Flowmaster kit includes new y-pipe and dual rear or side exit pipes which makes it the most versatile system I've seen yet.

M95, I really like the combination of the lowering and how those wheels fill out the fender wells. That looks tough! The Flowmaster sounds really mean, I like it as well. I'll bet that scares off half the people who might want some of your Titan at the stop light!

I made the complaint of my 70 series, and have concluded that it must have been due to a bad install of custom pipes, cause mine sounded weak...maybe the installer I chose hated foreign trucks so he did it on purpose...but it did not sound good...
