Another PRG evaluation...

Well, I FINALLY got around to getting my PRG kit installed tonight. Didn't take me long, most of it was finding my tools in my messy garage. Anyway here goes.

Excellent kit, very well put together, couldn't tell you about the instructions I didn't use them. I have heard and read enough around here to figure it out. During the install I got mad THREE times:

1) I THOUGHT that the replacement cotter pins didn't come with my kit when I got all of the parts out. No matter I have a package just in case for just such occasions.

2) I couldn't get the first spacer to go on top of the strut, just seemed that the bolt hole locations weren't right or something. Then I turned it over and found the cotter pins, taped to the bottom over one of the holes. Removed those and it slipped right into place. SO DISREGARD NO. 1 and NO. 2

3) I removed the nut on the sway bar when I did the 2nd side but I guess I didn't get the bolt out (or moving around the components it slipped back in a little). Caused me a few issues during re-install of the strut to get the bottom bolt back through. A little maneuvering with a jack and I got it though.

So really no problems. I didn't have any issues getting the balljoint out, I just let the strut put some pressure on it with the suspension hanging at full extension then whacked the spindle a couple/three times around the bolt and it popped right out.

BUT here is what I am worried about...I think it is TOO HIGH. It looks really high, higher than the back. I think it is the highest one I have seen (based on pics). I have seen some that seem a little higher in the front but mine seems really high. My wife is gonna FREAK. Maybe with a little tweaking of the rod ends to re-align it there may be some dropping it is sitting high on the outer edges of the tires and needs to set a little more center/flatter on the tires. I don't want to have to go out and buy blocks for the back and bigger tires to make up for the nose high attitude if it stays that way. I will have to drive it around for a week and see what it does. I will get some pics posted but it is too late tonight. I took a short drive (as I haven't aligned it yet) in my neighborhood and found my usual dip, I hit it at a good speed and it just sucked it right up, not the usual harsh rebound and sometimes the !BANG!. That I am VERY happy about! If the height becomes too much I may have to contact Greg for some custom spacers that don't lift the front as much. I have read that some others have done this as well. I just want it level or actually about .5" lower in the front.

What size front kit did you get? Did you measure your truck first?

And of course.... WHERE THE PICS?

Every truck is a bit different. Just let me know and I will make a custom set for you if need be and get them out to you asap. The alignment can make a bit of a difference (about1/4"). But if its sitting too tall, just let me know, ill make it right. Its most important that you are thrilled with the way your truck looks, ill do my best to make that happen. Give me a call, my number is on the instructions.

Red face No problem

Hey Greg,

I figured as much, you have always given excellent support here. I will have to see it in the light of day and better evaluate it all. I am really happy with the ride though. It didn't look like I finished my thought on my previous post. Basically I took it just down the street at the entrance of my neighborhood where there is a large "sharp" dip. Well I hit it at a good speed and it didn't have the harsh rebound or make the lound bang it does sometimes. IF I feel it needs to be lower I will give you a ring. Thanks again for the excellent product.

I know you said you don't want to do the rear blocks, but if you think the front is a little high still that would be the easier option than uninstalling the front spacers again. Besides, that extra 1" in the rear makes the Titan look just enougher taller to keep you from buying a lift! Atleast that's my story now.
