Talking flowmaster 70 vs borla turbo xl muffler w/soundbyte

bought a flowmaster 70 series and paid a custom shop to install and run new pipes. It had 3in in and dual 2.25 out. it was decent, had very little drone at 1500-1800 rpm(about 50-60 mph) and the sound was ok but I hated the fact I could here the engine rev louder than the exhaust...

so I bought a borla muffler and installed that...3in in dual 2.25 out. same setup, but now I have the sound I want...throaty rumble and I dont hear the engine revs above the exhaust note any more. There is droning at 1700-1800 rpm(58-62 mph) but it is very acceptable as I very rarely drive at those speeds and it is almost a pleasant drone

bottom line is that I like the sound of the borla muffler 10x better than flowmaster 70 series. paid $100 to have it installed, $220 for the muffler from summitracing and I can highly recommend it.

Nice,

Which Borla muffler is that one?? I bought 2 pro xs mufflers and had a muffler shop run mine out. It is a true dual set up.It sounds awesome!! Borla has a great muffler sound with little to no drone.

Nice Sound!!

I was thinking of getting a Flow 70....WAS. That sounds great dude and the fact there is little drone is very appealing to me. Did you purchase a new Y-pipe also or did your muffler shop make you one? Alot of people complain of how restrictive our stock Y-pipes are. Did they remove any cats or resonators? Sorry for all the questions but I am looking to mimic your setup (if you dont mind). I will be running the duals out the back if that makes you feel any better, haha. Also, those tips are sweet. My birthday is in less than a month so I am running out of time to break the news to my wife that this is what she is getting me, hahahaha.......

What I did was go to my local mufler shop where the guy had 2 Borla Pro XS mufflers. He ran from the cats back 2 true dual exhaust exiting out of the rear. My exhaust sounds great with no drone. If you putt the throttle down, you can definitely hear it. Cruising speeds, you hardly hear it. My total cost was around 400.00. Ran it 2.5" pipe.
