Another Happy Magnaflow Customer

WOW. That's all I have to say. I just got my magnaflow muffler swap done and that has to be the best mod out there. ANYONE that wants an inexpensive modification that will give you really nice sound and a very nice butt dyno result I highly suggest this. Bought the muffler for $62 and got it installed for $50. That's $112 for very noticeable gain in power and nice throaty sound.

I was going to look at a full cat-back system in a couple years but I think if anything I'll stick my money into some new cams.

Re: Another Happy Magnaflow Customer

Just went for another ride and yes, I can now burn the tires for about 5' from a standstill. Unreal.

Congrats! Hows the sound from inside the cab? Any resonance at highway speeds?

Re: Another Happy Magnaflow Customer

I get some resonance at 1600rpms when going from 22-27 mph. At 72 it's kinda loud too but I think 72 is just the sweet spot for that sound. 68 and 75 are quiet.

Also - my instant mpg looks like I get at least 3mpg more. At 30mph on cruise control and at 55mph on cruise it says 24mpg!

Like I said though - that's the instant mpg meter on the truck at exactly 25mph and 55mph. At below or above it gets down to near 20. But hey, I'll take 20!

I'll have to do a little math the next time I fill up.

Here's the muffler:

http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=12258

Model number is 12258

To install it they cut out the old muffler and had to bend the two pipes coming off the headers (no Y pipe on the 07/08 models) in slightly right before they get to the Magnaflow. The bend is maybe 3*. No chopping pipe - with the 18" it went as a direct replacement.

Probably as far as putting it in, welding the new muffler in its place is probably the hardest part.

If you mean the final pipe in the exhaust system - no. I left it the same because it points at pedestrians and people in the right lane. Hehehe

I do want to find a tip for it though but $60-70 for a magnaflow tip is more than the muffler. There's a local guy that makes stainless tips that I might install down the road. As far as looks though I like having the sleeper truck. Looks stock on the outside until I floor it. No dumb stickers or coffee can pipes stick on the back.

Kinda like the Ram I saw today with the K&N sticker on the window. No, not the window sticker but the "place this sticker on your air cleaner so the technicians wont throw away your permanent filter" sticker.
