No kidding. If I ever had a car any where close to that fast all it would do is get me killed. I'm barely staying out of trouble as it is with the 15 sec Titan.

Titan should win.

Yeah,

your Titan would win, but you would lose...j/k.

The GT's, more specifically 3.8's are quick off the line, but not very good beyond say, 60 mph. Heck, even the new SC Impala is only running a 0-60 in 7 seconds. That's a supercharged 240-hp motor. So, let her think she'd win, and really, you win!!

Even if you win, you will lose. No point even discussing it.

My last car was a 2000 GT with the 3800 series engine. The Titan is definitly faster. In fact, one of my comments to a friend was "I pulled directly into the left lane when entering the highway to get around traffic, and figured I was going to cut the guy off, but the Titan was fast enough that it didn't happen."

I think that the extra torque in the Titan should be a help to get you going as well.

Yes, my wifes '04 GT IS quick off the line. Especially from say, 20mph to 50mph....seems to have a real nice boost through that range. Titan (mine anyway) doesn't have that "boost". Titan seems to really start to move well around 50mph.

Maybe it's just misleading because the Titan is so much bigger that it just doesn't seem as quick as the car. Although the Grand Prix is not that small of a car, really.

And as for the 2000 GT...the 3800 engine hp was upgraded for the new 2004+ model Grand Prix (I think).

Anyway, as for which vehicle would win in a race.....I guess it depends on the length of the race. In my opinion the Grand Prix seems significantly quicker than my Titan from 0-60. In a longer race the Titan may pull away. In a shorter race I think the Titan would be looking at the Grand Prix's taillights.

Hi guys. New forum member. I just bought a 04 Titan KC 4x4 XE. I just sold a 92 Corvette w/LT1 slightly moded to 340hp. Just for background.

This Titan is extremely quick. My vette would have won, but not easily and it would have looked bad for the corvette out of the hole. I disagree that the titan seems sluggish starting out. I am very impressed with it's hole shot!! it reminds me of the late 80's vette L98 torgue monster. The L98 would kill an LT1 out of the hole, but it was history after about 200 ft. The torgue curve on the LT1 was incredible. Max torgue from 1500-5500....does that sound familiar?

Anyway...I'm impressed with the truck...surprisingly so.

She drives a 2004 Grand Prix GT, 4 door, automatic (don't think they make a 2-door anymore,or a 5 speed).

This is NOT the supercharged GTP model, but I will tell you what....this car is pretty quick! I was surprised. I mean I drove it before but I never really got on it much.

Anyway, to answer her question as to which vehicle would win, I just said... "It would be close." (Actually I think the Pontiac MIGHT win??)

I know in MOTOR TREND mag they usually have all the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for all/most of the newer cars/trucks out there, but I couldn't find it on line.

Anyone know?
MT shows the following:
'04 Titan SE Crew Cab....................0-60 in 7.2 and 1/4 in 15.3@90.4mph;

C&D shows the following:
'04 GrandPrix GT............................0-60 in 8.1 and 1/4 in 16.2@N/A

Looks like the Titan would win hands down, at least if you're wife wasn't driving.

Well, well.....Guess I was wrong (nothing new there).

And Truck-Trend magazine shows the Titan at 6.7 0-60 now. Shouldn't even be close with the Pontiac.
