From what I've seen it is similar to the K&N. It comes with a heat shield, but is by no means "sealed off" from the engine compartment.

Here's a pict:

Cool

Here's what the K&N looks like from my install. Just for comparison's sake.

I like the comparison pics... putting aside the performance and install differences I think the K&N looks better.

Sorry for the delay. yes it is smooth on the inside on both tubes. as an additional note the tubes are silicone and not rubber so they should last quite a bit longer; at least as long as you own the titan.

And as side note i've posted video of what my exhaust/intake combo sounds like and the details here: Link to video post

the k7n

Hey Yankee4x4. Do you happen to a part or model number on you K&N. I like the metal but the one on K&N's website that they recommend is plastic.

Quick question: can the openness of either filters be affected or ruined by off roading? During some of my off roading excursions (not with a Titan) I have thrown mud and water into the engine compartment. I assume that this would temporarily block airflow into the engine (clogged filter) and maybe do some damage. Anyone have experience with this?

You might consider getting a filter wrap if you are worried about it. It should stop mud from penetrating the actual filter element. You can just remove them when not playing in the dirt.
