Intake effect on exhaust sound.

I seem to repeatedly hear in other posts that putting on a new intake will change the sound of the exhaust. Can someone describe what it does?...Louder? Deeper? Raspier? How does this happen and do most poeple like the sound change?

I'm not sure about the exhaust being louder. I don't notice any difference with the K&N filter charger. On the other hand, the intake noise is considerably louder. On the stock intake there is a resonator that reduces the sound of the ignition chamber. Without that intake resonator/muffler the noise the engine makes under load is much louder(people look at the truck funny). Under normal load/acceleration there is very little difference compared to stock. At least with the K&N.
