Switched to Borla's

Well after debating it for weeks, I switched out my Spin-Techs to the Borla's.
It is not nearly as loud as my Spin-Tech's were, but they have a much deeper tone and I have absolutely no highway drone.

The other thing that bothered me was the Spin-Tech's would have a popping sound to them when you jumped hard on the throttle. It reminded me a bit of a big block speed boat.

It's going to be a little hard getting use to the fact that I won't scare the crap out of people when I start the truck anymore. I always loved that!

Nice! Congratulations on the switch. I usually get at least some looks when I fire the beast up with the Borla's. Especially at the gas station. Lots of rubber necking.

The Gibson had some pretty dominant popping as well. The Borla's have no popping or drone. Just a whole lot of badazzness.

Mine has a nice roar on startup and then rumbles down nice and deep as it idles down to 500 - 600 RPM.

Which brings me to ask, what is the stock idle RPM supposed to be? i was thinking it was about 700, but I know since my exhaust I usually am around 500 - 600.

I didn't know you had Borla player. I'm not sure on the stock idle RPM (mines around 500 - 600) although it sounds like the beast is breathing easier now.

Don't get me wrong, I still have the roar when it fires but not nearly as scary as it was. I always waited for someone to be right next to my truck when I started it. It's the little bit of evil in me.

Edit: My idle is about 500-600 as well.

I went the custom route with a Borla Turbo XL muffler to replace the Gibson.

http://www.borla.com/products/produc...bo+XL+Mufflers

Others have went the cat-back route. http://www.borla.com/applications/lo...System/140079/

Keep in mind Borla is probably the most expensive site to buy the cat-back. You can find a system for allot cheaper just do some searching on the net.

I don't know if you've heard a Borla on a Titan yet so I'm gonna post it anyway just in case. http://www.clubtitan.org/postt1822.html

Gracias! I thought 500 was a little low, but it seems to run fine and not get the shakes or anything.

Me? I don't have Borla(s). I have an AeroTurbine muffler with some custom pipe work a friend and I did.

http://www.tscomputerservices.com/titan/tsexhaust.html

It is alot quieter now than right after we built it, but that startup is still awesome!

$$$, but t-304 stainless all the way. it should last longer than the Titan. well worth it IMO.

when my Flowmasters rust out, I'm going borla.

I had racing beat on my RX-7, and that was the best system money could buy. 60 hp increase due lower back pressure and increased boost production (with a properly installed fuel cut defender). T-304 stainless all the way, from the down pipe to the exhaust tips, except for the y-pipe. Best $800 i spent on my RX-7.

Trust me, when you go exhaust and want a bolt on, go T-304 stainless, especially if you live in humid regions, places with lots of salt, or drive short distances frequently.

That system just looks sweet. So shinny!! Borla has a million mile warrenty. What kind of warrenty does the Flowmaster have (non-SS)?

I totally agree. When I said "custom" route I meant that I had already spent $$ on the Gibson stainless cat-back and didn't want to replace that with a Borla cat-back just yet for loosing my azz reasons. So I did the next best thing and had the Gibson muffler replaced with the Borla.

As you may remember I still have the Gibson stainless cat-back piping with a Borla muffler. The Borla cat-back wasn't out yet when I bought the Gibson so I thought I'd give Gibson a try. Another thing I'll mention I like the side exit allot better than coming out the rear so hopefully Borla will come out with a side exit application. I'll tell you the Gibson stainless is showing signs of rust already. It's only been about a year.
