Well I ordered the 4 - 3" 2 bolt exhaust flanges from Banks and had 3" strait pipes bent and welded in the resenators place.............
OMG it made the Banks go from mean to PISSED.....this thing now sounds like a true muscle car......can't wait to see if I gained anything @ the track or the dyno

I live in louisiana and its raining like a mofo haha, i'll get them tomorrow I promise
And down low its alot deeper than before and more willing to bark<---if that makes sense........but when you get on it, it does have a wicked rasp to it
Am i missing something, ok here is my deal i am not a newbie but i had my new pipes put on about 4 months ago i went with magnaflow from where the 2 pipes converge into 1 is that before or after the resonaters. i know i saw the cats, and the pipe guy i went to said "dont waste your money these are high flow cats" so are the resonaters before the cats. i have 05 se off road big tow. 3: pipe dual out 4" tips sounds good

the resenators are after the cats way before the 2 pipes go into one.
the stock set up is as follows.........exhuast manifolds(headers), cats, resenators, stock exhaust.
the resenators look like tiny mufflers. And the cats are not high flow cats, but i'm waiting till we get a nice long tube header to do away with those.
ok so in the maybe 6 feet of pipe where it comes off my block through the manifold AKA "headers" and down to where the factory pipes squeese togeather and make one big pipe. there is resonaters and cats. i told my guy i wanted true dual from manifold back and he said "you grt more low end fron single 3 in and dual 2.5" out. is he full of the dooty or what. it was about 325 for the mod work and the pipe and muffler? he said he built race cars for years and i saw pictures to prove it. i remember running on my old 75 dodge powerwagon with the 360, home made duals i had headders and flanges and cherry bombs with straight pipes that were 2.50 ran straight out the back and clamped on and i am not sure if i gained any thing but it sounded bad a$$?

Yes when you lower the back pressure of your exhaust by making it free flowing you do lose some low end but you gain it back up top.
The Banks exhaust is 3" all the way back and is only a single outlet exhaust. And one of the bottle necks that is there is the damn resenators, so thats why I got rid of them. If you want a little more sound and power get rid of the resenators, i'll post pics tomorrow for all to see.
so in your opinion, should i go back to him and say i want my resoniators cut out and run me true duals from cat back to an x or h pipe with 2.5 in and 2.5 or 3" out.

hmmm........if you just cut out the resenators you will be left with like a 2.25" pipe haha and thats kinda on the small side.....you have to get the 3" flanges and put a 3" pipe in its place.......also on the "true" duals you may want to get someones opinion that has them already........I personally like the single full 3" exhaust from front to back.

This topic has been dissected before but here's the perspective:
It all depends if you have a 4x4 or a 4x2. 4WDs have 4 catalytic converters and NO resonators. 2WDs have 2 cats with 2 resonators. The "primary" catalytic converters (on both types) are directly attached to the exhaust manifold. This should not be removed for computer/emission reasons.
The "secondary" sections (Cats for the 4x4 and resos for the 4x2) have "flanges" and can be removed simply by unbolting them and can replaced with a system of your choice however, you (or shop) would have to weld "bungs" for the O2 sensors unto the new section replacemnts. Correct cat back systems start after the secondary flanges. Any system that starts after the OEM Y-pipe is a waste of money IMHO unless you just want the deeper exhaust sound.
