Kind of reminds me of this thread:

Major front end failure!

I hope it is not anywhere near that serious.

Yup, if you read the thread I linked above, it appears that a few people noted that tendency.

you can drive your truck around without the sway bar if you're careful. Just onbolt the side that's effected (or both if necessary) and zip tie the end link out of the way. Just realize that if you change lanes at seventy mph on the freeway and hit a seam or bump at the same time you could be in trouble. Many people disconnect their swaybar anyway to allow greater travel of their front suspension.
good luck.
my leveling kit went on without any problems. Not sure i understand how yours got that way...

It sounds like a phone call to the PRG man might be in order:

"My truck did this as well when I was installing prg kit. I called greg and he had me just lift up on the sway bar with a jack and it popped right back into place."

I wouldn't be driving it around making grinding noises. I am wondering if it is possible that the ends of the sway bar can hit the rims unless something is bent.

Actually, perhaps it can pivot down if not held tightly by the end link bolts? It would be nice to see a photo of exactly what happened.

If you unbolt the link rods it on both sides of the truck, can't you just pivot the entire bar back into proper position and then reconnect the links?

thats what i plan on doing tonite. i removed one bolt last night, on the passenger side. i tried to remove the driver side but it was on there so tight i couldnt. i will have to jack up the truck and get a better angle on it. it sure feels tight though. im pretty sure i'm going to have to get to the mounts that hold the sway bay itself and loosen those a bit to rotate the bar.

thatnks for all the help everyone. i was really worried at first that i did something real bad. but this seems like actually a small problem that can be easily fixed.

Easiest way would be to simply remove the sway bar mounts, the two that bolt it to the cross-member then rotate it so that the end links are positioned properly. I accidently got mine "upside down" but caught it before I took the truck off the jack stands. It's easy to do if you aren't paying attention.

We got it all figured-out tonight. If that happens to anyone else, please DO NOT drive the truck around like that, even if it doesnt scrape the rims. It will try to lock-out the suspension components. I did something to my truck that resulted in the sway bar doing that (prototype kit) and i drove on it like that for 3 days (and about 70 dirt miles)and it bent the end links, no other damage though. I dont run the sway bar now and the truck handles fine (just took a 500 mile trip and i didnt even crash once!!!). Removing the sway bar will improve the compliance of the suspension over "irregular bumps" but there really is no reason to take it off.
