Who needs the Banks or Flowmaster. Just go with what i plan to get here in the near Future. Electic cutouts just after the resonators and before the y-pipe.
Give me some feed back on what yall think

Typically see those used for drag racing. Resonators might make a difference, but a car using those is loud. Not good sounding loud, obnoxiously, raspy, switch it back fast loud.
Unless those resonaters do something magical, a regular aftermarket exhaust is still a better choice, IMO.

If you want to make a difference, out them before the resonators. Those things neck down to 1.5" diameter for about 12" in length on each side. It also depends on warranty issues if you think it's a good idea or not. I take off my nitrous stuff when I take mine in. I don't know if two dumps would fly at the dealership but I guess that depends on the shop you'd take it to.

So "the head" you think that if these were to be installed before the resonators they could possibly void the warranty. What about after resonators? Thats interesting that such a thing could possibly void a warranty. And if these are welded in they might be a little hard to replace every time i need to go to the dealership.
I don't think it would matter where you put them since these are generally regarded as race-only parts. At least with cat-back systems you they won't go ballistic since those are 50 state legal. I'd just check with wherever you'd take your truck for service, first. I asked the dealership I use and they don't have a problem with the exhaust and airbox I'm currently running.

How fast will the computer compensate for the change in the exhaust. If it takes from 100 to 300 miles as some on here have stated, then you would have to run around with them open for that distance before racing. I drove to and from work one day, 60 miles, with the exhaust off of my truck, it did not run good at all.
I had cutouts on a 66 Chevelle SS 396, back in 68.
Don't our cars have O2 sensors in the catalytic converters? In which case adding a test-pipe before them might actually harm your performance.
My friend has a Jeg's cutout with the DMH electronic opener on this Vortec 5300 Silverado. As said above - it is obnoxiously loud, drones constantly, and not very appealing to anyone. It's not going to have that lopey muscle car sound to it, so it just becomes an annoying drone. As for power increases, he will be the first to tell you that the truck has noticeably better acceleration with the cutout closed.
Also in case you're wondering, the cutout sounds the same with it partially open as with it fully open. This meaning you will either sound like an open cutout or a closed one. BTW these do leak minimal exhaust gas and condensation indicating that even closed it may not perform as well as a flange (although I honestly thing this difference is nothing myself).
Anyways I certainly wouldn't do it to my truck after riding in his for thousands of miles. Our trucks are especially refined and comfortable, and I would not ruin that with a cutout. I've never heard the custom exhausts for our trucks but I would assume they are the way to go.

y'all tell me if you think its too loud and obnoxious ,and even if it is use it to scare others at a street light, or only at the track and then you have this magical button that seals it off for when you have had enough.

the noise is fine trust me I know the only problem is if your dumping anywhere under the cab be prepared to not be able to talk and to get a foot massage but otherwise the sound is awesome
Even if you get no power gains, the cutouts would come in handy when you pull up next to one of those guys with kilowatts of booming bass designed to "impress" people for blocks. Just hit the button, rev the engine a couple times and I'll bet you will win the decibel "contest." Besides a straight piped healthy V8 is music to my ears! Open both sides and you have the sweetest stereo on the planet.

Am I the only one who wants to get this really really badly? And does anyone have an estimate about what an install cost would be? This reminds me of my dads boat, 496 MAG, sounds great but wait till you hear it with the captains call. In my mind my Titan needs cutouts. MUHAHAHA

If you guys are interested in the cutouts you might ought to go to your local muffler shop first and get them to install some "manual" cutouts first. I had cutouts on my '98 Pontiac Formula and they were very loud and obnoxious -- I loved them! :-)
Any muffler shop will do it for cheap -- easily less than $100. You will have a cap that is held on with 3 wingnuts and to open the exhaust up you just remove the nuts and the cover comes off. That way you can see if you like the sound before shelling out the $200 for the electric units. Just a thought...
