Why a supercharger is better than a vette...

OK - this should almost (or really be) in the off-topic area but this is for the gearheads out there.

Anyway, for a moment put your mind into another dimension where testosterone rules and even if it’s just too expensive you just gotta say – WTF.

I was commenting (as usual) to my wife how great a supercharger would be, especially if I had one! So I was telling her that it’d be cheaper and more fun to go with the supercharger than going out and getting a vette like I had looked into doing not so long ago. Off the top of my head, I started rambling the following reasons why it would be better:

-I wouldn’t have to go fill the supercharger and waste time looking at even more parts at the speed shop.
-I wouldn’t need to put insurance on a supercharger like a car, thus creating another (or larger) bill for that.
-It’d be cheaper than a car payment.
-I wouldn’t have to wash/wax a supercharger.
-A supercharger doesn’t take up a space in the garage.
-I wouldn’t need to go to the track to jet a supercharger as the weather changes and as other parts are added to it.
-I’m already going to buy a programmer at some point and probably have to upgrade the fuel system so it’s not like it would be $6k (using the Stillen as an example), it would be more like $4k since I’m going to get that stuff anyway and then if I sold my nitrous and all that stuff it would be closer to being $3k. So it’s really only costing half as much.
-A supercharger would make me happy. You want me to be happy don’t you? (yes, that is just wrong on many levels but I did it smiling)
-All the other guys are getting one
-It comes with a warranty. My nitrous doesn’t.
-If I got a corvette I would need to restore the interior, paint it, then start adding power and ultimately I could have bought 3 superchargers for that kind of money.
-Yeah the bikes are fun but this is something I could enjoy every day.
-It’s also cheaper than that blue ZX10R at the dealership.
-You know that ZX10 would still need the forks sent to Traxxion and a Penske added to the rear…
-It’d be faster than the corvette. Well, at first.

We have our 9 year anniversary this week and she’s dropped a few hints about what she got me. I keep telling her that I’m surprised she could fit the boxed supercharger into a little gift bag-thing... Any other far-fetched excuses yall can think of?

I dont think I woud be much help, since once I got a S/C, I would want the rest of the supporting mods like some longtubes, boost friendly cams, smaller pulleys, etc....just do it!!

I personally would like to see you get the blower. Then you could work with Stillen to get it dialed in properly and then when all the bugs are worked out and the price drops 30%, the rest of us could jump on board.

Well as soon as procharger comes out with one, I am going to get it.

Most likely I'll have them install it at their place in lenexa, ks.

I will always go for an intercooler setup.

I got another reason for you:

All your Houston Titan friends (me, havock, vshortt, max, chad, titano24, etc) could help / watch you install it. This could be a great opprotunity for male bonding, and relationship building. During the long frustrating hours of the install, we will talk about our feelings (of pain & frustration and how much we hate Stillen / other manufaturers for their crappy directions).

The supercharger setup may cost $6000, but good relationships are priceless. The communication and relationship skills you learn during the install (with your Houston friends) will transfer back into the marraige, benefitting her, and your children.

I can only think of one other reason

You can be the first (and might I add, Only person to pay Stillen (Stealin) $6000.00) for his Blower. Besides, someone has to do it, it may as well be you! I just want to see pic's.

And all you guys bring your wives/girlfriends for Head's wife to hang with, and there is female bonding. Then if they hook up as friends, that frees you all up to spend more time at the track. Yeah, that's the ticket....

Another reason....

Some people would think you're trying to 'compensate for short-comings' by buying the Vette-I think you know what I mean...

And you wouldn't want people to think that about you.

Two more reasons to get the supercharger:

1. 'Vettes are cop magnets - pickups, even ours, are usually not.

2. 'Vettes are babe magnets - pickups, usually less so.

The wife will appreciate these, especially the second one.

that's a very good point... your wife wouldn't whores throwing themselves into the passenger seat of your vette every time you stop at a traffic light, right?
