Question Whistling noise at low RPM's

Alright I did a search on the K&N 77series and did not find anything on a "whistling" problem. For all I know I could have done something wrong on the install, but I went over my work and can;t find anything wrong. When at low rpm's (2000-3500) I hear a slight whistle. Now is this normal? I have never heard this on any other vehicle of mine with intakes before. It performs great, but the whistle is annoying. It kind of sounds like a turbo constantly spooling-up. Any ideas?

try being a little less specific in your search:

"K&N whistle" = http://www.titantalk.com/forums/sear...earchid=402150

"whistle" = http://www.titantalk.com/forums/sear...earchid=402148

Whistle

Before you put your K&N on, did you remove your throttle body and cut out the screen? If you did not, you could be getting the whistle from the screen that is taking up the upper 1/2 of your intake manifold inlet.

You may want to cut it out and see if it goes away. It is there to create turbulance in the air inlet path. You may have a performance decrease if you cut it out though. If you add a throttle body spacer you will need to get it out of there. If it doesnt bother you, just enjoy the benefits of the K&N. Ignore the sound.

I just looked at the installation direction again to make sure I did not miss this part. I still do not see where it tells you to remove a screen in the throttle body. I would check to make sure that everything mated up correctly and it is not just a leak.

I don't have the 77 Series but do have the 57 Series Gen II Air Intake Kit. I do not get a "wistle" sound but do get a BIG sucking sound under engine load. Pretend like you are going to wistle but then suck air in. It kind of sounds like that.

I did have a little wistle sound and found that it was the sponge material on the left side of the radiator (as I look out the windshield) was loose. The double sided tape had cut loose and the wind was pushing through.
