Has anyone been tested by their local dealer service department on the 'voided warranty' issue. I am a new 2005 Titan CC owner (..i put the 8th mile on it on the test drive...) as of July 1st. I have used K&N airchargers in everything I owned and want to do the same with the Titan...Any issues voided warranty discussions so far...???

It took graduation from the "School Of Hard Knocks" (Marine Corps), with an associates in "Combat Vet" from Fallujia University to open the door to my dream job.

If you can read in english, thank a Marine.

Thanks for the info...I heard about the Fed Act...just didn't know if anyone had put it to the test....KEWL DEAL....I'm doing the K&N!!!!
No prob. I think your in the clear with CAI. Most everything short of forced induction should be ok unless a warranty is available with the SC or turbo like the Stillen.

You might also consider just asking the service dept that you'll be using what their take is on any mods you do.
I was thinkin about doin that before any mods but after reading the magnusson act, I don't think its necissary. It states that some service dept will lie because they want to get paid for the full cost of work that should be rightfully covered by the warranty.
The guys at Tustin Nissan (CA) told me that if my MAF sensor went bad, they would not cover it. I am using the Fram Airhog drop-in. They were telling me that they see Maxima's come in all the time with MAF failures from intakes, and they don't cover the repair.

My uncle lost his MAF on his Altima and the dealer, and Nissan in general, refused to replace it under warranty because he had a Purolator filter in the stock box instead of the factory unit. I would have blown up all over Nissan if they tried that on me...
Refusing to warranty a vehicle because a factory air or oil filter was not used is not allowed. There is a Federal Law against that. But when I was at Roush we saw alot of failed mafs due to over oiling of K&N type filters. If you put too much oil on them they will ruin the MAF or cause the car to run lean. The K&N filter even comes from the factory with too much oil on it. I usually will clean the filter before I install just to get the extra oil off of it. Of course, I only run a K&N on my blower motor. I haven't done a thing to my Titan.
What is a MAF sensor and how do you know if it is bad?

It is the Mass Air Flow sensor located in the tube that goes from your air box to your throttle body. It reads what is flowing to your engine and inputs that info to the engine's management computer. You will probably note poor running and/or a check engine light/trouble code will go off if you have a problem with the MAF.

Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

My dealership gives similar stories about aftermarket filters. Everytime I have brought my Titan in, another mechanic brings me back and asks me if I'm aware of the problems caused by "those things". I always respond with, "let me guess, someone cleaned and over oiled their filter and the oil coated the MAF sensor?", and they acknowledge. I further explain that I have always put aftermarket CAIs on cars and that I am aware of my own liability with these things but also aware that it has to be the proven sole or secondary source of a warranty claim. Usually makes them happy and they explain that they are just making sure I know.
