Gibson exhaust installed (not another exhaust thread!)

I bolted up my Gibson single swept-side exhaust yesterday and I couldn't be happier. It's has the exact sound characteristics I was looking for. In cab drone occurs at 1500-1600 rpm only, so I pretty much never hear it. while cruising on the streets you can hear the exhaust and it sounds great, and on the freeway it is there, but totally unobtrusive, perfect for when I'm pulling the trailer with the family in the truck and my almost-2-yr-old watching Nemo in the back.

That's sweet! I am looking at that same exhaust, as well. How much trouble is it to put on?

I did it by myself in my driveway in about 1-1/2 hours. It's really pretty easy. You need a 3/8" drive ratchet, a long handle is good to break the stock nuts loose, a 9/16 deep socket for the new hardware, and 12mm and 14mm sockets for the stock hardware.

By the way, about your avatar, the picture from endless summer, that's my father in-law with the board on his head and his back toward the camera. The other two guys, I can never remember their names, are his buddies. One is famous, I want to say Robert August, but I don't think that's right.

Later!

Nice, PT, I just got my exhaust put in last week. Love how quiet it is in the cab and the aggressiveness from the outside when you step on it. After I got it installed I took it later to Meineke and for 30 bucks they welded everything into place for me.

I'm looking into getting the Gibson system also. Where and how much did you get it for? Post up some sound clips!

I ordered mine through Truckaddons.com for $379 (aluminized, not stainless steel) shipped to my office. Call Larry @ 1-800-388-8637 x1879 and tell him your Buddy Paul got it for $379 and he'll do the same for you.

As far as sound clips go, I don't even know where to start. Is that lame?

Tx_flip,

I plan on doing the same thing. I figure I'll let it go through some heat and cool cycles and have the local Speedway Muffler weld all the joints once everything is settled in.

Most digital cams have the ability to record video.

I've got that same exhaust. I really like it but it's a bit louder than I want. It sounds awesome when I really get in to but it has a bit of a drone between 1500-2000 rpms.
