Volant Version 3 Installed (pics)

I bought this volant from So-Cal motorsports off ebay. This is the ver 2 lid.
They will mail me the version 3 lid for free this week sometime. Lowend torque
seems to be improved(pulls much harder from 1st to second 2nd gear shift. I really notice a difference from a 50mph punch to about 80. I hear a heavier
roar from about 3000-3600. No vibration.

Ver 3

YES THIS IS VER3. IT LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM HIS INSTALLED BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE THE SIDE OF THE BOX. The box I recieved show Generation 3. I think they have a listing on ebay right now!! Good luck. Yours may be shipped with the new lid.

Sorry but you have the version 2 box, check how the lid sits on top versus the lid on the one that is a version 3 in this link:

The lid should be recessed not sitting on top like my version 2 box. That's what yours appears to be doing from your photo.

Maybe the version 3 lid that he is supposed to get does sit inside. There may very well be a lip under that top that you can't see. We would have to see it without the top to see if it is correct or not.

I have talked with Tony at SoCal...and they can't get the Ver 3 right now. Volant has Ver 2 in stock that they want to get rid of first before they will sell them the Ver 3. Unless this has changed in the last day or two.....

They were going to do a group buy at another club and it had to be stopped because SoCal simply can't get them right now.

yeah man Joe from volant just emailed me and told me that they woudlnt be avaialble for sale for two weeks?? so im confused and hes the GM?

so Id be sure they are selling you the right version as they do indeed look different from the top

and to the AEM?? I cant STAND the wimpy whistle sound it makes as the air is moved through the metal pipe

that and the heatshield screws come a loose some times so they rattle

the volant to me is a better unit just one guys opinion not the intake law

I just switched my AEM out for a volant and I still hear the whistle, but not as loud. The whistling is inherent in some Titans and is not caused by the intake itself. The only reason you hear it is because of the open element design. As for the heatshield coming loose, that's never happened with me. Power wise, I feel the AEM makes more mid and top end power than the volant.

weird man as my volant never whistled and I had two different models

and you are right the AEM is better up high than the volant and MUCH quieter, but its torque increase (my reason for getting an intake) sucks if you ask me,

not sure I agree about the middle though

Im pretty sure the whistle in my truck is due to the intake

This is Tony--that group buy hasn't stopped, we are just waiting for Volant to give us the heads up on the Gen3 and when they will ship. Still on.
