you are 16 - the money will serve you better if you save it and use it in college as opposed to blowing it now on a truck you may or may not have by the time you are done school.

Use that $$$ once you get in college so that you don't have to work over the summer and winter and finish in your 3rd year. The quicker you are out, the quicker you can get on to making some serious $$$$. You have plenty of time to invest once you are done school.

Don't listen to these duds about investing. You only live once, kid. Hire Van Halen for a private party and invite a few friends and a LOT of chicks, you'll be the envy of Texas, probably make the social page in your local paper, get noticed by some big shot promo dude and get a job making 6 figures, now THERE'S your investment!

Investing is no fun. It doesn't give any immediate gratification but it is the wise thing to do. In your shoes, I would do the same thing as you and think about how I can spend it rather than how I can invest it.

I say do both. Buy the cheap performance parts or audio/video equipment and put the rest in savings. I don't know much about investing and what to invest in but if you considered putting that $6K in a ING Direct account which is currently paying 3.15% interest you could be making around $15 a month in interest. that equals to about $180+ a year. How's that for investing? In a year you could have made almost enough to buy a Volant Intake..
