Need to get a volant

ok guys those of you who have a volant, did you really see a difference in the MPG area. i want to get one to help me a lil bit with the gas sittuation. the guys over at my dealer said that with the banks and the volant i would be seeing at least an extra 100 mpg. they said that one of their guys has the same set up on his and that thats what he averages per fill up. what do you guys say. you guys with only the volant set up is the gas mileage a lil bit better? thanx

You will not ever see 100mpg!

OK, I think I know what you meant. I have the Banks and the Volant. My mpg went up 1 - 2 mpg after the install of the Banks. I then installed the Volant, while it did broaden my power band, I did not see a change in my mpg.

I rarely measure MPG but I can say that in the instances I have, I did not improve MPG with the Volant. It stayed the same. I pull about 14 in town and 17 on the hwy.

17 MPG on the highway!

D*mn, I wish I could get 17 MPG on the highway. I average about 14.5 on the highway, but then I'm usually doing about 70 - 75. I'm getting ready to order the Volant, and I expect to get at least 100 MPG. Actually, if gas mileage was that critical I would have kept my little Ford Ranger 4.0 L that got around 20 MPH. But man I love the way this big beast accelerates when I have to pass on a two lane road.
1. Switch on blinker 2. Apply pressure with right foot 3. Watch suprised looks on faces of drivers being passed 4. Pull back into lane in front of other traffic and proceed

Gas mileage

With my Gibson and Volant, I am getting a range of 13-14 city and 17-18 highway on average.

I've had peaks of 15 city and 20 highway. (twice)

Without the mods, (I got at the same time), I was 11-14 city and 17 highway max...

I have a Gibson and Volant and did not see a huge increase in mpg. Definitely not 100 miles/ tank. That would be about 3.5 mpg gain, which would have been really nice. It probably does give me a mile or 2. I've heard that a tonneau cover seems to give the best gains because of less drag.

I do have an awful lot more power. No, it's never been dynoed but it sure feels like it pulls harder.

There a million different claims of what gas mileage different people get, but I think this is one improvement that frequently gets overlooked. I have a hard tonneau and a sammy inspired exhaust (dual x-pipe flowmaster) and I never get less than 15.5 mpg and almost always get 17 mpg and that is with a mix of highway/city. Not to mention this is with a 4x4 and the mpg is very easy to determine since it is calculated continuously by the nav system.

I do plan to get a V3 Volant and air raid TBS soon. We will see what that does, again opinions vary widely.

I have 30,000 miles on my Titan and I have reccorded all my gas and miles since I bought the truck in May, 2004. I installed the Volant at 6 months and the Magnaflow exhaust. The mileage has not changed since day one, 15/16 country driving and 19/20 freeway driving.

Well I have not measured the difference since I installed my Banks and Volant on mpg,but you'll be doing your truck a favor by letting it run more free flowing which in sense helps your engine by not having to work as hard and could help your mpg.But the urge to "open it up" and hear that Banks sing to you will be the deciding factor in mpg.I would reccomend the Volant in combination with the banks, installation is pretty easy,I dropped the factory exhaust with only using 1 arm (had shoulder surgery about 2 weeks before I installed them, pops helped me out with the rest of installation)completely bolt on no welding for banks. As far as volant heres a step by step link that helped me out a bit for installation http://www.clubtitan.org/postt1193.html
