just installed the borla exhaust

Did anyone else that has this system have trouble aligning the two flanges on the cats? It was a real tight fit, maybe thats good. I have to get underneath again at some point and reajust the left tip. After tightening three clamps it moved a little and is now touching the bumper. Not a big deal but it doesn't look as good. By the way I did use a jack to position it in the correct position before I tightend the clamps. Other than that I sounds good. Getting a lot of smoke from the oil used in fabrication burning and the more I drive and break it in the louder its getting.

Sound bite

If you can, would you try to put a sound bite of your Borla out here so I can hear it? I've been trying to find out what the Borla sounds like on the Titan and you're the first one I know of that's bought one and installed it. I'd love to hear what it sounds like before I waste my money on something else that won't do the job for me.

TIA

M

How much was it?? Your impressions? I'm interested in this one, the gibson or the flowmaster. Is it worth the steep price??
Thanks

I do not have a recorder so sorry I cannot post a sound clip. Aggrevating I know, I looked for a long time for a clip and could not find one of the Borla cat-back. As far as the price vs sound, I wish it were louder and had some hollowness to it. I may remove the secondary cats since I have read they are not needed. That will make it louder and from what I've heard give a little rasp. If you are looking for price vs longevity, its all stainless and should last the life of the truck. I've read on here some people are experiencing rust on the gibson and flowmaster systems after one year. I wasn't willing to pay $450 for something that will start rusting that soon so I spent the extra.

yup just flanges, two of which need silicone or welded lol. im not the first one with that issue. but over all a very nice and unique system. if you like a dual side out look then b&b is nice, if you like dual pipes coming out the back then the borla is the way id go. both are very high quality SS systems, just depends on the look and sound you prefer.

WesTex and Mopar....

If you don't care about having SS tubing....you could go with a hybrid like I did and save a little $$. Bought the Flowmaster kit for $417 and bought a Borla XS 304 SS muffler (3"X2.5" SI/DO) for $84 to replace the 70 series muff. BTW...I've had the Flowmaster kit installed for about 6 months and have no rust at all. Modern aluminumized steel tubing is much more resilient (sp?) to rusting than the old stuff.

Also, if you don't use the 70 muff (I did for about 5K mi) then you could sell it to a muff shop or on the forums and recoupe even more of the cost. Just a thought.

Go to post #6 to here's how it sounds.

Out with the Flowmaster 70....In with the Borla XS
