Cool Biggest wheel & tire package

I am looking at getting some 20" Helo G's that are black in the center with a polished lip. Can I run 20"s? If so, what should the backspacing be? I like the look of the BFG All Terrain tires. Will it affect the speedometer? Also, does anyone know how to get past the speed limiter of 114 mph? Your response is appreciated.

Lots of guys are running 20's. A search will get you what you want. I notice your signature suggests you are set up for speed and not off-road. Those 20's will slow you down because they are heavier - alloy weighs more than rubber.

If you stay the same approximate height - 32.5 to 33 inches tall, you will not have any speedo error.

I don't think anyone has found a way to bypass the speed limiter due to the way it works in our system. And, having been up to the limit - 114-116 a couple times myself, I'm not sure I would want to go faster, as our aerodynamics are not good for higher speed and our tires are not speed rated for speeds any faster. You would need V-rated tires.

BTW, the BFG T/A All-Terrain KO's are awesome, but they are not a sport truck tire - they are an LT construction, heavier sidewall, more plys and intended for good off-road performance while still being reasonably quiet.

Just a thought or two. Others may have different opinions.

See sig. Only BFG A/T for 20" that will fit without a lift is 285/55/20, but those are small. 32" diameter, 11" wide. Mine are 33.4" diameter and 12.2" wide. Big difference.

BFG TA KO's are a great off road tire. A little noisy on the street but not too bad. You'll never hear them with an exhaust. But I would agree they are definitely better off road than for street. Might be a bit hairy at 115 MPH on those.

I've had my truck to over 110 mph, 105 on the speedo, and it's off 3-4 mph @ 70 mph...thats with my 317's.
Truck gets light, and loose, needs to be lower, and more sway bar frt & rear to start feeling stable!

I agree, having had it right close to 115, there really isn't a need or want to go faster. It gets pretty scarry.

I brought mine up to ~ 110-115 today, but it felt like theres a cutout right there. Didn't feel bad at all, just didn't want to accelerate much more. 100% stock, but the freeway I run on is real nice. Took my eclipse up to 130-140 a few times just for fun. (ofcourse, on a clear-no traffic morning) Drove 90-100 on a daily basis. Most traffic runs 80-90 anyhow.

I'm running Eagle Alloys 22's with Falken 305/45R22 which gives an outside diameter of 32.75". No problems so far.

Thanks everyone for the input! I have decided to go with the Helo Maxx/B 20"x10 with 305/50 grapplers. It's a great looking wheel being black with a chrome lip. I found out that JET performance can recal you ecu for $400.00. I hit that 114 mph mark real quick and it feels real stable. I must have hit it over a dozen times. I tow my 70 camaro to the track up in Palmdale, CA. My friend tows his 69 camaro with his escalade and I can out run him everytime (without N02)

You might want to check with the guys here who are posting dyno runs in the separate performance sticky at the top of this section. Many of them have tried to find someway to defeat the speed limiter and I think all attempts so far, including all tuner chips and recalibrated ECU's have not worked on the speed limiter.

They have not wanted to drive over 114 on the street. They want the limiter gone for two reasons: (1) so they can dyno in fourth gear to maximum rpm to get accurate dyno numbers - this would take the truck up way beyond 114) and (2) so they can run much smaller tires on the rear and effectively increase the gearing for better acceleration - like running 29 inch tires (or even smaller) and not hit the speed limiter.

Maybe they have a work around. I haven't heard about it.

Last point. If you can get your truck above 114 and don't have an aero package, lowered suspension and get rid of all that air under the truck, please don't drive on the same highway where the rest of us are. These are not Camaros.

And I assume you are not planning on towing a trailer at those speeds, are you?

if you insist in attempting that, with or without the trailer, are those Helo Maxx's speed rated (V or Z). Please tell us they are.

I don't mean to create a problem, but man, think about this!
